General Motors is seeking a highly experienced SAP Techno-Functional Solutions Architect to join our SAP Architecture team. As a senior architect, you will be accountable for driving end-to-end architecture strategy, solution design, and delivery oversight across GM's global SAP landscape.
This role requires deep techno-functional expertise, disciplined enterprise architecture skills, and proven leadership of large, complex SAP programs. You will act as a trusted advisor to both business and IT leadership, ensuring that solutions are aligned with GM's Cloud-First, Clean Core, and SaaS strategy, while enabling resilient operations across manufacturing, supply chain, finance, and defense domains. Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Architecture Leadership
- Define, govern, and evolve SAP solution architectures in alignment with GM's enterprise standards, TOGAF principles, and long-term technology roadmaps.
- Provide architectural direction across SAP S/4HANA, ECC6 migrations, RISE readiness, and integration with GM's enterprise ecosystem.
- Ensure solutions follow Clean Core and Cloud-First principles, minimizing technical debt and maximizing upgrade agility.
Solution Design & Delivery
- Lead techno-functional architecture for large-scale SAP programs (manufacturing, supply chain, finance).
- Own and drive cross-functional integration strategies across Finance, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, HR, and other domains, ensuring seamless operations in a hybrid ecosystem (on-prem, cloud, SaaS, and legacy).
- Translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and sustainable SAP solutions.
- Provide hands-on guidance on ABAP extensions, Fiori/UI5, integration middleware, labeling/printing strategies, and enterprise data management.
- Partner with program leads on cutover, migration, and post-upgrade stabilization strategies to ensure zero-incident outcomes.
- Lead development of proofs of concept (POCs) and reusable solution accelerators, creating foundations that can be scaled and leveraged across GM.
- Explore and embed AI-driven innovations within SAP solutions (e.g., predictive analytics, intelligent automation, advanced data insights), ensuring alignment with GM's enterprise AI and digital strategy.
Governance & Standards
- Establish architecture patterns, reusable assets, and design principles to drive consistency and efficiency across GM SAP landscapes.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, and cloud engineering teams to ensure compliance with GM standards and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct architecture reviews, risk assessments, and design approvals for all major SAP initiatives.
Leadership & Influence
- Mentor and develop senior engineers and architects, building next-generation SAP architecture talent.
- Engage with executive stakeholders to articulate architecture vision, program value, and measurable business outcomes.
- Represent GM in external forums (SAP, TOGAF, cloud partner ecosystems) to shape future enterprise roadmaps.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline.
- 10+ years of SAP techno-functional architecture experience across ECC6, S/4HANA, and integrated enterprise solutions.
- Practical experience in designing and delivering cross-functional SAP integrations in hybrid environments, ensuring end-to-end process continuity, performance, and data integrity.
- Proven leadership in large-scale SAP migration, upgrade, and transformation programs.
- Expertise in at least two SAP functional domains (e.g., Finance/Controlling, Manufacturing, Supply Chain) with strong technical skills in ABAP, integration, and cloud enablement.
- Deep understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF Certified required) and their application in a global enterprise context.
- Experience in Clean Core, RISE readiness, cloud hosting, VMware/Oracle remediation, and SAP upgrade strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to influence executives, partner with business leaders, and drive architecture adoption across diverse global teams.
Preferred
- Master's degree in Information Systems, Enterprise Architecture, or Business Administration.
- Prior experience in automotive or manufacturing industries.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity in SAP landscapes and compliance with US DoD/ITAR or other regulated environments.
- Familiarity with SAP Digital Manufacturing Cloud, SAP WM, and AI/analytics integration.
- Experience leading distributed teams across multiple geographies.
Certifications
- TOGAF Certified (required) or equivalent enterprise architecture credential.
- SAP Certified Technology Specialist and/or SAP Certified Application Professional (preferred).
- Cloud certifications (Azure, AWS, or GCP) (advantageous).
