The Opportunity
This is not a conventional pre-sales role. As Senior Sales Engineer you sit at the intersection of three things that matter deeply to us: the customer, the product, and the technology. You are the person customers turn to when they want to understand how things work and what is genuinely possible — and the person our product and engineering teams turn to when they need real-world signals on where to invest next.
Concretely, that means two things. First, you will engage customers at various technical levels — supporting the day-to-day accounts, running innovation sessions, uncovering complex requirements, and designing solutions that push the boundaries of our platform. Second, you will lead the design of AI-powered workflows for sales and marketing: identifying where AI can unlock value in our customers’ data pipelines and internal processes, building those workflows, and feeding what you learn directly back into Streamhub’s product roadmap.
You will report to the Country Manager and Head of Engineering, working with global and local teams while acting as the trusted technical authority for clients across Japan and Asia Pacific.
What You Will Do
Customer Innovation & Technical Discovery
- Lead technical discussion sessions to surface customer requirements that go beyond surface-level feature requests.
- Run innovation workshops with clients, demonstrating what AI and data-driven approaches can unlock for their measurement and analytics challenges.
- Serve as the primary technical advisor for customers in Japan and APAC — the person they call when they need to think through hard problems.
- Translate nuanced technical and data requirements into precise, actionable briefs for engineering, ensuring nothing is lost in translation.
- Build lasting technical relationships that create trust, reduce churn, and open doors to expanded partnership.
AI Workflow Design & Engineering
- Design and implement AI-powered workflows across customer data pipelines, measurement processes and internal delivery workflows — not just recommend them, but build them.
- Identify where large language models, automation and AI tooling can accelerate data integration, quality checking, anomaly detection and insight generation.
- Maintain and evolve data integration pipelines built on Airflow, Kubernetes and AWS/GCP.
- Evaluate emerging AI tools and determine where they create genuine leverage for our customers or our team.
Product Development Contribution
- Act as a structured feedback channel between customers and the product team — turning field observations into well-reasoned product proposals.
- Contribute directly to product direction by synthesising insights from across the customer base into patterns that inform prioritisation decisions.
- Co-develop new solution frameworks with the product and engineering teams, owning the technical specification and validation of solutions you help shape.
- Stay ahead of industry trends in audience measurement, AdTech and AI so that Streamhub’s roadmap reflects where the market is heading.
Sales Engineering & Proposals
- Partner with the sales team on complex enterprise deals: lead technical discussions, design proof-of-concepts and produce compelling RFP responses.
- Demonstrate Streamhub’s platform to technical and business audiences, adapting depth and framing to the room.
- Develop technical proposals that clearly articulate Streamhub’s value proposition relative to customer objectives.
Global Collaboration
- Collaborate across engineering and product teams in London and Bangalore, ensuring consistent delivery standards and knowledge transfer.
- Share technical knowledge and raise the bar for how Streamhub engages with customers technically.
What We Are Looking For
Must-Have
- Customer-facing depth: 5+ years in a B2B technology company in a role that required rigorous technical engagement with enterprise customers — Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, Technical Product Manager or similar.
- Engineering fundamentals: 2+ years of hands-on experience building data integrations or applications in Python or Java; solid working knowledge of SQL and cloud platforms (AWS or GCP).
- Media industry knowledge: At least 3 years of relevant experience in audience measurement, research, advertising, or analytics/data systems.
- AI in practice: Demonstrated experience applying AI tools — not just using them, but designing workflows or solutions around them — as part of day-to-day delivery.
- Communication: Native-level Japanese and advanced/fluent English. Able to shift register between engineering teams and C-suite audiences in both languages.
- Credentials: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field. Eligible to work in Japan.
Nice to Have
- Experience contributing to product decisions — writing specs, influencing roadmaps or managing a feedback loop between customers and product teams.
- Hands-on experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, or AI workflow tools applied to analytics or media use cases.
- Background in VOD, CTV or streaming measurement.
- Startup or scale-up experience; comfort with ambiguity and ownership.
- Experience managing small distributed teams.
The Package
- Salary : JPY 10,000,000+, depending on experience
- Employment : Full-time with a six-month probation period
