Job Description
The Washington Post is looking for a results-driven sales representative to join its licensing and syndication business. This role will sell the world-class content of The Washington Post by actively seeking out and engaging customer prospects, as well as handling renewals within our existing book of business.
The Post’s licensing and syndication business counts the top news organizations around the world among its clients, and is focused on continuing to uncover companies beyond traditional media (Business Intelligence, Media Monitoring, Financial Services, etc.) that rely on first-class coverage of the world, the nation, politics and culture. The offering also includes prize-winning photography, graphics, video, and enterprise subscriptions.

Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive outreach strategies to grow the reach of The Washington Post brand and maximize revenue opportunities.
- To drive new client types through the sales process, whether that is face to face or on the phone/ conference calls.
- Draft contract agreements/amendments that meet legal compliance and standards and take ownership of the negotiation process from beginning to end
- Handle renewals for an existing book of business; perform needs analysis of current customers to create and pitch upsell opportunities.
- Effectively use Salesforce to enter all leads, prospects, opportunities, and sales activities through the sales cycle.
- Maintain positive business relationships and consistently network to enable future growth opportunities.
- Collaborate internally with various functions including Product, Engineering, Audio/Video, etc. to support strategic growth within territory.
Qualifications
- Highly motivated and target driven with 5+ years of experience in sales (preferably within licensing, media, or news wire services).
- Previous experience successfully driving revenue growth through prospecting, discovery, pitching, closing and renewing business
- Highly proficient in consultative selling both face-to-face and via the phone.
- Execute strategic B2B client acquisitions, informed by analysis, ensuring alignment with brand, performance metrics and exceed targets.
- Proven ability to drive cross-functional collaboration, aligning revenue strategies with broader business objectives, and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
- Exhibit flexibility, adaptability, and strategic focus in a fast-paced, evolving environment, with the ability to pivot strategies in response to changing conditions.
- Embrace an entrepreneurial and mission-driven mindset, ensuring the successful navigation of dynamic business landscapes.
- Strong analytical skills and quantitative capabilities, utilizing data-driven decision-making to optimize sales efforts, achieve revenue targets, and challenge assumptions through research and performance metrics.
- Outstanding presentation and communications skills, including negotiation skills
- Limited travel to client sites or conferences as needed
- Affinity for Washington Post content and interest in emerging news-media technology
- BS/BA degree

Benefits may vary based on the job, full-time or part-time schedule, location, and collectively bargained status.
The salary range for this position is:
101,775.00 - 169,625.00 USD Annual
The actual salary within this range will depend on individual skills, experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements. This position may be eligible for a bonus or incentive program, and a member of the Talent Acquisition team will discuss bonus payment terms and conditions during the interview process.
