The Boeing Company is looking for a Senior Safety & Airworthiness Specialist (Safety & Regulatory) to join our team in Berkeley, Missouri. This position will apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to the full range of activities required to support Airworthiness/Flight Certification of various aircraft and external stores for USAF (United States Air Force)/USN (United States Navy)/Phantom Works/DOD (Department of Defense), and International Military programs.
Primary responsibilities:
- Oversees the development, maintenance, and communication of complex strategies, policies, and initiatives to enhance safety and airworthiness of Boeing products and services.
- Researches, analyzes, and assesses highly complex safety and regulatory data, trends, and developments; provides consultation on the impact to Boeing products and services.
- Influences and shapes safety and airworthiness initiatives through applying advanced specialized technical expertise in airspace operations, human factors, air navigation, customer operations, safety management, policy, or regulatory domains.
- Partners with external stakeholders (customers, regulators, industry, and external organizations) to identify complex safety and airworthiness issues and advises on solutions. Addresses escalated highly complex safety and regulatory technical inquires and support requests from internal and external stakeholders.
- Oversees investigation of organizational factors that contribute to safety and airworthiness issues.
- Leads developing, deploying and implementing safety and regulatory policy, standards, and guidance.
- Leads advocating internally and externally for safety and regulatory enhancements to support Boeing products and services.
- Provides advanced technical consultation and training relative to highly complex safety and airworthiness matters.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):
- 15+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- The ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):
- Associates degree or higher
- Working knowledge of USAF Airworthiness (MIL-HDBK-516), Life Cycle Management (63-1201 & -1202), and Foreign Military Airworthiness regulations
- Experience in USAF / US Military Maintenance
- Experience working with safety analyses such as Risk Assessments, Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Fault-tree Analysis (FTA), etc.
- Experience working with Quality and/or Safety Corrective Action/Preventative Action, Root Cause Corrective Actions
- Experience with military and commercial specs and standards
