Role: This position includes, but is not limited to, the oversight of processing various security transactions, working with customers on various safekeeping matters and relaying all bond accounting information to the correct individuals.

The Senior Safekeeping & Funding Specialist manages the secure handling, custody, and accounting of financial assets, securities, or other valuables on behalf of bank customers. The position ensures trades, securities, and collateral are properly recorded, safeguarded, and reconciled in compliance with regulatory and internal controls. The position also coordinates with the bank CFO and other Finance team members to develop funding products and strategies for the bank and bank customers.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Clear and process trades for bank customers, including processing all security sales, purchases, and calls
  • Process daily interest payments and reconcile differences between custodians and internal systems
  • Balance daily payments from the Federal Reserve and BBOW
  • Process all pledging changes
  • Provide an exceptional customer experience for safekeeping customers and act as a point of escalation for problem resolution as needed
  • Reconcile select “Due from” bank accounts
  • Investigate discrepancies and maintain audit trails for all transactions
  • Maintain vendor due diligence for the safekeeping, bond accounting and wholesale CD vendors.
  • Direct the Wholesale CD program for customer funding purposes
  • Manage documentation and coordinate records for retention and destruction
  • Act as a liaison with the Bank’s bond accounting partner, relaying information as needed
  • Act as subject matter expert and trainer for safekeeping, bond accounting, and wholesale CDs
  • Required to be in compliance with GLBA/Privacy, Information Security and BSA/AML as it relates to this position
  • Coordinate with other Safekeeping team members to make sure all daily, monthly, and yearly duties are performed in a timely manner
  • Work with finance team on products, services, and strategies to help fund bank growth and funding desk development. 
  • Other duties as assigned.
