In this role, the candidate will focus on counterparty credit risk metrics—such as Potential Future Exposure (PFE), settlement risk, and collateral—supporting critical business and risk decisions. The individual will be responsible for developing, enhancing, and maintaining key processes for assessing, monitoring, and reporting counterparty risk measures.
The candidate will work closely with cross‑functional partners across the firm, including Trading, Risk Oversight, Portfolio Management, and Senior Management, to ensure risk insights are well understood and effectively communicated. The role also supports the research and development of quantitative risk‑modeling methodologies and related strategies to manage risks arising from portfolios and financial products.
Leveraging strong analytical skills and modern technologies, the candidate will help maintain forward‑looking models and analytical solutions that accurately identify, measure, and monitor risk exposures.
This role has a direct and indirect impact on key financial and risk metrics, including counterparty credit risk exposure measurement and monitoring and economic capital and regulatory capital calculations
Responsibilities:
Develop and apply scripting and programming solutions to automate processes supporting a wide range of activities, from data acquisition and transformation to the generation of automated risk reports.
Calculate and analyze counterparty credit risk exposures for non‑standard and complex transactions with unique structural features in a timely and accurate manner.
Partner closely with Trading, Lines of Business, Risk Oversight, Infrastructure, Model Development, and Operations teams to ensure accurate deal understanding and to resolve deal‑specific issues.
Provide analytical support for ad‑hoc projects and trading‑related requests within the group.
Collaborate with Market Risk Oversight, Stress Testing, Capital, and Reporting teams to deliver regulatory reporting and stressed exposure results.
Maintain cross-functional relationships with: Technology & Operations (T&O) Project Managers and Business Analysts, Counterparty Credit Risk Model Development Team, Risk Oversight and Market Risk Stress Testing Teams, Corporate Risk Management Directors and Managers, Lines of Business (LoB) Credit Portfolio Managers and Account Managers, and External system and software vendors
Qualifications
Master’s degree in a technical or quantitative discipline such as quantitative finance, statistics, engineering, or applied mathematics
1+ years of relevant professional experience, preferably within a financial institution
Knowledge of financial markets and financial products
Solid understanding and hands-on experience with risk management methodologies and measurement systems, including PFE-related frameworks
Proficiency in Python; experience with Django and/or VBA is a strong plus
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
