The Role
Envato is in prime position to achieve our vision of becoming the go-to creative companion worldwide, navigating a competitive and rapidly evolving industry shaped by creative technology and AI advancements. We’re looking for a Senior Research Manager to elevate our customer focus and data-driven approach, driving research excellence to inform strategic growth. Reporting to the Head of Analytics & Research, you will lead our research team and collaborate with product, design, strategy, and marketing leaders to deliver impactful insights that drive Envato’s customer-focused journey.
What you'll be doing
- Define and execute a clear research strategy across Envato, identifying needs and determining the appropriate methodologies to apply, whether in-house or outsourced.
- Partner with teams across the business to uncover research opportunities, deliver actionable insights, and drive decisions that shape product, marketing, and strategic priorities.
- Champion research as a partner and enabler in customer-centric product development, elevating its role beyond information gathering to a strategic partner.
- Lead and mentor a small but impactful research team, while empowering other teams to engage in customer discovery without compromising research quality.
- Conduct hands-on research to stay connected to challenges and maintain subject matter expertise.
- Synthesise customer insights across delivery teams and functions into a compelling narrative that enhances customer empathy, domain understanding, and strategic decision-making.
About you
- You have 10+ years’ experience in research focused roles within the tech industry, including leading a research function.
- Possess a relevant Bachelor’s degree (e.g., Psychology, Marketing, Sociology, etc.), with advanced degrees a plus.
- Strong expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, including data analysis tools like R, survey platforms like Qualtrics and qualitative user research.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and deliver appropriate research projects, scope, methodology, timing and budget to a range of customer and business problems.
- Proven experience managing research budgets, tools procurement, and participant incentive programs.
- Skilled in building scalable research teams with a balance of process rigor, knowledge sharing, and upskilling opportunities.
- Track record of managing and mentoring diverse teams, fostering collaboration, and guiding professional development.
- Deep customer-centric approach, ideally with a passion for the creative industry and an understanding of its processes and technologies.
- Excellent synthesis and communication skills, translating research findings into actionable, strategic insights.
- Demonstrates adaptability, a continuous improvement mindset, and strong leadership in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
