Senior Research Associate, Biology

Flare Therapeutics is a biotechnology company pioneering a new therapeutic space with a novel approach to decipher the biology of transcription factors to develop small molecule medicines. Based on insights from the seminal work of its scientific founders, Flare’s team has uncovered ‘switch sites,’ druggable regions that are key targets for transcription factor regulation, to address mutations that cause disease. Flare’s drug discovery efforts to target switch sites has rapidly advanced, resulting in an emerging pipeline of research programs that address well-validated genetically defined transcription factors, initially focused on precision oncology.

In this role you will...

• As a member of the Biology team, execute on cell and molecular biology activities across Flare’s pipeline and early discovery projects 
• Develop, validate and perform a variety of functional cell-based assays to drive drug discovery campaigns 
• Collaborate with chemistry, biochemistry, and translational colleagues to interrogate the mechanism of action of small molecule modulators of transcription factors to improve compound efficacy for H2L and LO advancement
• Present data and research plans to the teams to inform data-driven decisions 

About you…

• You have a BS or MS in molecular or cellular biology, or related field 
• You have at least 2 years (MS) or 4 years (BS) of experience in biotech/pharma
• You have experience with cell assay development, drug discovery screening, and mechanistic studies
• You are experienced in cell engineering (shRNA, CRISPR knockin/knockout, generation of stable lines, viral transduction, etc.)
• You have worked in oncology and/or transcriptional regulation 
• You have an aptitude to work with drug discovery databases
• You consider yourself to be a self-starter with a great ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks and meet multiple deadlines
• You thrive in a dynamically changing and fast-paced environment, are very team oriented and comfortable with changing priorities
• You have strong communication skills, both written and verbal, including presenting data to the internal company meetings
• You have a strong passion for science and are driven by making a meaningful contribution for patients
• You love the lab!
• You get along equally well with people, cultured cells, and multi-well plate readers
