Job
Summary
We are
looking for a Senior Research Analyst – Buy Side to support the investment team
through detailed fundamental research and sector analysis. The role involves
tracking companies across sectors, building financial models, identifying
investment opportunities, and monitoring industry and market developments. The
candidate should have a strong understanding of valuation methodologies,
experience in primary research and channel checks, and the ability to present
clear investment views. The role also requires active participation in
investment discussions and collaboration with internal research and AI-driven
tools.
Responsibilities:
· Cover
Multiple sectors with deep institutional-grade research, including channel
checks, primary data work.
· Build
and maintain detailed earnings models, including normalised/mid-cycle earnings,
replacement cost, scenario DCF, and SOTP where relevant.
· Track
quarterly results, management commentary, industry developments, and policy
changes across coverage sectors and surface time-sensitive ideas to the PM.
· Track
special situations within coverage (open offers, demergers, mergers,
restructuring) as event-driven alpha sources.
· Identify
and track cycle inflection points across sectors using capacity utilization,
capex cycles, working capital trends, commodity prices, and demand/supply
mapping.
· Produce
high-quality written research outputs that meet institutional standards —
explicit data sourcing, scenario analysis, and clear gap-flagging.
· Participate
in Investment Committee discussions with reasoned stock recommendations, sizing
rationale, and explicit risk/exit frameworks.
· Work
collaboratively with the firm's internal AI research tooling, contributing to
its refinement and using it to accelerate judgment-led analysis.
· Provide
informal guidance to junior analyst(s) as the team scales.
Requirements
· Minimum
5/6 years of equity research experience, with a buy-side orientation (PMS, AMC,
AIF, family office, or buy-side-aligned sell-side desk). Pure broking-research
backgrounds considered if accompanied by a clear investing mindset and
modelling depth.
· Track
record of independently covering stocks, with the ability to walk through past
calls — including the ones that did not work and why.
· Comfort
with multiple valuation methodologies appropriate to cyclical investing:
cycle-adjusted earnings, replacement cost, EV/IC vs ROIC, scenario DCF, SOTP.
· Bachelor’s
in finance, Economics, Accountancy, Engineering, or a related field. CA / CFA /
MBA Finance preferred.
· NISM
Series XV-A (Research Analyst) certification — required at offer or within 90
days of joining.
· Working
familiarity with SEBI PMS Regulations 2020 and Research Analyst Regulations
2014.
· Active
use of AI / LLM tools in research workflows (Claude, ChatGPT, NotebookLM,
internal agents). Curiosity here matters more than current proficiency.
· Experience
with channel checks, primary research, and expert networks.
· Excellent
communication — capable of producing and communicating institutional research
notes with explicit data sourcing and gap-flagging.
