The SMR-300 project provides an exciting opportunity to work alongside innovative engineers focused on developing the next generation light water reactor to be deployed around the world.
The reactor operator will assist system design engineers, I&C engineers, mechanical and simulator engineers in the development of SMR-300 systems. The reactor operator brings valuable operability insight to the project to ensure appropriate functionality is achieved for systems. The reactor operator will also assist human factors engineering (HFE) and human-machine interface (HMIs) teams with the development of the plant and engineering simulators.
Specific Areas of Responsibility:
- Review system documentation including P&ID and design descriptions
- Provide operability review for systems specifically during off-normal conditions
- Define system and component maintenance requirements and approaches
- Assist system engineers in developing equipment specifications for safety valves, pressure-reducing valves, etc.
- Review engineering simulator results and assist engineers in troubleshooting simulator challenges
- Assist and review HMIs and provide operator insight
- Assist in developing refueling sequences and ensure systems can accommodate shutdown and refueling operations
- Assist engineers in developing a radwaste management plan and develop equipment design requirements to handle solid radwaste operations
- Assist mechanical engineers with defueling and refueling sequences and review mechanical drawings to ensure operability during the refueling process
- Support development of Safety Analysis Report contents and regulatory interactions
Minimum Requirements:
- 7+ years of Commercial Nuclear Power Plant experience, specifically pressurized water reactors (PWRs) as reactor operator or senior reactor operator
- Excellent understanding of the PWR systems and their operating conditions for all modes of operation
- Effective communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and capable of producing error-free documents.
- Strong problem-solving and computer skills.
- Eligible to work under 10 CFR Part 810
Optional Additional Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or in lieu of Degree, 12+ years of Commercial PWR Plant experience
