About AIM

AIM Intelligent Machines is transforming the physical foundation of civilization—everything humanity depends on is mined, dug, or grown. We build autonomous heavy equipment (bulldozers, loaders, excavators), enabling fleets powered by AI to operate continuously, safely, and efficiently in the world’s harshest environments. Built by leading minds from industries like mining, construction, Waymo, SpaceX, Google, and Tesla, AIM’s platform supports production mines, large-scale infrastructure projects, and defense operations. We are backed by top-tier investors including General Catalyst, Khosla Ventures, Elad Gil, Human Capital, Ironspring Ventures, Mantis, and DCVC.

About the Role

The user interface is where humans interact with autonomy. As a Senior React Developer, you'll design and build robust web applications powering AIM’s autonomous fleet: a safety-critical Operator UI, a multi-tenant customer portal, and the design system underpinning both.

You write clean, maintainable TypeScript and React, and bring equal rigor to UI correctness, safety, reliability, and user experience. You understand the difference between a UI that looks correct and one that is truly reliable—even under adverse conditions like bright sunlight or gloved operation on a worksite. You'll thrive in a team that prizes clarity, customer focus, and engineering excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Architect and build a robust design system, including setting the direction for components, accessibility, theming, versioning, and migration tooling

  • Own the developer experience for all engineers leveraging the design system

  • Develop the Operator UI, including:

    • Implementing live 3D scenes using Three.js, React Three Fiber, and Drei (rendering point clouds, geofences, machine overlays)

    • Designing state machines (XState), validation, and observability for safety-critical flows

    • Building teleop controls and integrating live video streaming

  • Shape the administration portal as a true SaaS product, focusing on:

    • Multi-tenant authorization, internationalization, and real-time data architecture

    • Designing customer-facing experiences meeting B2B software standards

  • Deliver production-ready, high-quality TypeScript using modern frontend engineering best practices

  • Lead code reviews, design reviews, and architectural discussions

  • Collaborate with field deployment engineers to gather real-world feedback and improve the codebase

QualificationsBasic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Design, HCI, or equivalent hands-on experience

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering production frontend systems

  • Deep expertise with TypeScript and React (modern patterns like hooks, suspense, and concurrent rendering)

  • Familiarity with frontend tools: Vite, npm/pnpm workspaces, Storybook, Vitest, Cypress, Testing Library

  • Strong debugging skills (browser devtools, logs, telemetry, tracing)

  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality software individually and across teams

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with 3D web graphics: Three.js, React Three Fiber, WebGL, or point cloud rendering

  • Experience with real-time data and binary serialization (Protocol Buffers, gRPC-web, WebSockets)

  • Exposure to safety-critical or industrial UI in sectors like robotics, automotive, aerospace, medical, or defense

  • Experience with state machines (XState), TanStack Router/Query, Zustand, Tailwind CSS, Floating UI, or multi-tenant SaaS authorization (ReBAC/ABAC)

What We Offer
  • High-impact ownership across our frontend stack and global deployments

  • Collaboration with world-class engineers in software, autonomy, hardware, and robotics

  • Competitive compensation, equity, medical/dental/vision, 401(k), and life insurance

  • Travel opportunities to customer jobsites across the U.S., Australia, Europe, Africa, South America, and beyond

  • Strong onsite collaboration at AIM offices, labs, and testing grounds in the Greater Seattle area
