Job Summary: 

As a Senior R&D Engineer on Ruggable's team, you will be responsible for evaluating, testing, and implementing new equipment and manufacturing processes to enhance our product development, prototyping, and made-to-order production capabilities. You will analyze and customize these technologies to align with our business objectives, ensuring they meet our quality and efficiency standards. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams and external suppliers to implement innovative solutions and drive innovation in our capabilities. 

What You’ll Do:

Equipment Research

  • Research, evaluate, and recommend new equipment and technologies to drive product development and manufacturing innovation
  • Translate product proposals into actionable equipment requirements and conduct thorough research to identify and vet necessary machinery
  • Interface with equipment and installation vendors to gather detailed specifications, operational requirements, and installation plans
  • Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and reports on equipment use and new processes
  • Develop and present comprehensive business cases for equipment purchases

Project Management

  • Manage project timelines and ensure deliverables are completed on schedule, identifying potential project risks and developing strategies to mitigate their impact
  • Host project meetings with stakeholders and executives, communicating project status, issues, and risks while tailoring information for different teams as needed
  • Oversee installation and implementation of new equipment in both testing environments and large-scale manufacturing sites

What You’ll Need to Have:

Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Textile Engineering or equivalent program
  • 5+ years of experience owning large capex projects in fast-paced, unstructured environment 
  • Experience interfacing and managing relationships with external suppliers
  • High level of proficiency in Google Sheets and Slides, including formulas and model construction 
  • Creative problem-solving skills with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to attend trade shows and meet with potential suppliers 

Preferred: 

  • Knowledge of direct application digital textile printing and textile manufacturing processes (weaving, tufting, knitting, bonding, finishing) 
  • Experience with modern manufacturing technologies, including automation and robotics 
  • Certifications and understanding of the principles of Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, and PMP

Compensation:

  • $90,000 - $125,000 per year base salary
  • An annual bonus percentage that varies based on level of role
  • Employer matching (up to 3% of base salary) for company sponsored 401K plan
