Job Summary
The Senior Quality Engineer ensures compliance with aerospace quality standards and drives quality performance across die casting and precision machining operations. This role leads root cause investigations, supports First Article Inspection, drives risk-based thinking, and serves as a technical quality authority for manufacturing and customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and customer-specific requirements.
- Interpret and apply quality system requirements across manufacturing, inspection, and supplier processes.
- Lead nonconformance investigations using structured problem-solving methods (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone) and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Support die casting and precision CNC machining processes, including process capability and risk assessment.
- Interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
- Lead and review First Article Inspections in accordance with AS9102; support submissions via customer portals and Net-Inspect.
- Develop inspection plans and support CMM measurement strategy, MSA, and calibration compliance.
- Analyze quality data, SPC trends, and KPIs to drive continuous improvement and reduce scrap and COPQ.
- Support internal, customer, and third-party audits, including NADCAP.
- Mentor junior team members and influence cross-functional teams.
- Make sound quality decisions, including stopping production or shipment when necessary.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
- 7+ years of aerospace quality engineering experience.
- Strong knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001.
- Experience with die casting and precision machining processes.
- Advanced GD&T and root cause analysis skills.
- Experience supporting aerospace audits and customer interactions.
- Advanced to Expert level in Excel, Word and PPT.
Preferred Qualifications
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE).
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Experience with ERP/MRP and digital quality systems.
- Experience working directly with aerospace OEM customers
