Key Responsibilities
- Lead Initial PPAP development for aerospace suppliers, including planning, execution, review, and final package readiness.
- Train and educate suppliers on PPAP requirements, elements, deliverables, and expectations.
- Guide suppliers through pre-established PPAP element modules, ensuring understanding and long-term capability.
- Develop PPAP deliverable plans with suppliers and track completion to closure.
- Review PPAP packages for completeness, technical accuracy, and compliance with customer and aerospace requirements.
- Support subsequent PPAP submissions, including technical review, revision requests, re-evaluation, and resubmission as required.
- Conduct Requirement Consumption Reviews (RCR) to align engineering requirements with supplier manufacturing capability.
- Identify high-risk characteristics, drawing notes, materials, special processes, and tooling adequacy issues.
- Perform commodity assessments to evaluate risk across aerospace part families such as:
- o Machined components
- o Weldments
- o Composites
- o Electronics / PCBAs
- Assess supplier PPAP readiness and recommend whether PPAP implementation is required.
- Review AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports (Forms 1–3).
- Verify dimensional results, certifications, special process records, CMM data, and full traceability packages.
- Document discrepancies and ensure corrective actions are defined and addressed.
- Prepare and deliver clear assessment reports, PPAP review findings, and supplier action lists.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and supplier leadership regarding risks, gaps, and readiness status.
- Support metrics, dashboards, and reporting related to PPAP status and supplier performance.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience reviewing and managing PPAPs in an aerospace or in high-reliability manufacturing.
- Proven experience working directly with suppliers to develop, teach, and audit PPAP processes.
- Experience with aerospace commodities such as machined parts, special processes, composites, weldments, or electronics.
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Quality, or related).
- Knowledge of AS9100, ISO9001, and government/military workmanship standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, maintain objectivity, and interact professionally with Supplier and Buyer personnel.
- Ability to travel to supplier sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Dock-to-Stock (DTS) or supplier qualification programs.
- Experience with supplier quality software platforms or PPAP management tools.
- Prior work as a Quality Engineer.
- Background in aerospace, space systems, or defense manufacturing.
