Senior QA Engineer Specialist

Esko | Veralto Corporation

Location: Bangalore, India | On-site

Reports To: Senior Team Leader

About the Role

The Opportunity

We’re seeking a self-driven Senior QA Specialist to strengthen quality engineering for WebCenter Enterprise, a Java/J2EE web application. In this hands-on role, you’ll independently own quality for assigned features and product areas, combining thoughtful manual testing with the creation and maintenance of reliable automated test scripts. You’ll work with the current SAHI-based automation suite and help evolve the framework, including evaluating Playwright or Selenium where appropriate.

You’ll work closely with software engineers, product managers, and the Senior Team Leader to translate product and technical risks into an effective test approach. You’ll execute tests, interpret results, distinguish product defects from automation or environment failures, and communicate evidence-based quality risks. Success means meaningful automation coverage, effective exploratory testing, earlier defect detection, and dependable test results for WebCenter Enterprise.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will:

  • Independently own the test approach for assigned features and product areas: assess customer and technical risk, clarify acceptance criteria, estimate effort, prioritize coverage, and raise dependencies or quality concerns early.
  • Design and execute a balanced set of manual and automated tests, including exploratory, functional, regression, integration, API, and end-to-end testing; select the test layer and technique that best addresses the risk.
  • Create, maintain, and improve reliable SAHI-based automated test scripts using established design patterns and reusable code; contribute to framework design and evaluate Playwright or Selenium where appropriate.
  • Interpret test and CI/CD results, investigate failures systematically, and distinguish product defects from automation, test-data, or environment issues using logs, browser developer tools, and reproducible evidence.
  • Reduce flaky tests through root-cause analysis; maintain representative test data, repeatable setup and cleanup, dependable environments, and clear, actionable failure reporting.
  • Collaborate with developers and product managers throughout the development lifecycle to improve testability, find defects earlier, and align testing with delivery timelines and product quality goals.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and improve QA processes, tooling, and feedback loops while protecting the stability of existing coverage.
  • Produce concise, accurate test cases, automation code, defect reports, traceability, and quality summaries; communicate coverage, evidence, blockers, and release risks clearly to stakeholders.
  • Share domain knowledge and practical QA and automation techniques with colleagues, and use approved AI tools responsibly where useful while independently validating outputs and protecting proprietary and customer data.

What We're Looking For

Minimum Qualifications

These are the must-have requirements for the role:

  • 8+ years of professional experience in software quality assurance, test automation, software development, or a combination thereof, including ownership of quality for complex web-product features.
  • Strong hands-on ability in automated and manual testing, including writing, debugging, reviewing, and maintaining reusable automation code with established design patterns; practical programming or scripting skills in JavaScript, Java, or a comparable language; proficiency with Git, code review, and maintainable coding practices; and sound judgment in applying exploratory, functional, regression, and automated testing.
  • Hands-on experience creating and maintaining web test automation with SAHI, Selenium, Playwright, or a comparable framework, together with the ability to become productive in SAHI. SAHI is the current automation tool; prior expertise in SAHI is not required.
  • Hands-on experience designing, organizing, and implementing automated unit, integration, and API tests with Java frameworks such as TestNG, JUnit, or equivalent solutions, including parameterized or data-driven testing; API coverage should include HTTP/REST, authentication, response and schema validation, and negative scenarios using RestAssured or comparable code-based tools, with Postman or similar tools for exploratory testing.
  • Experience integrating, maintaining, and diagnosing automated test execution in CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps, including analysis of failures and reliable reporting of results.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, including interpreting test results and investigating failures with logs, browser developer tools, and reproducible evidence.
  • Experience testing web and client/server products, preferably Java/J2EE enterprise applications, with a good understanding of browser behavior, sessions, authentication, authorization, and integrations.
  • Strong risk-based test-design skills, including equivalence partitioning, boundary-value analysis, and state-transition testing.
  • Ability to design representative test data, maintain repeatable setup and cleanup, and validate results and data integrity, including practical use of basic SQL queries where appropriate.
  • Experience working in Agile or Scrum teams and contributing quality engineering and automation activities throughout iterative, sprint-based delivery.
  • Clear, proactive communication and a collaborative working style, with the ability to explain quality risks, ask relevant questions, build consensus, and support less-experienced colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications will help distinguish stronger candidates; relevant experience in one or more of these areas is valued:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Relevant professional testing certification, such as ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL); advanced or specialist credentials—particularly ISTQB Advanced Level Test Automation Engineering (CTAL-TAE), Technical Test Analyst (CTAL-TTA), Quality in DevOps (CT-QDO), or an equivalent recognized certification are a differentiator for this senior automation-focused role.
  • Practical experience using approved AI tools to accelerate test design, automation-code development, test-data generation, or failure analysis, with independent review and validation of outputs and appropriate protection of proprietary and customer data.
  • Direct experience maintaining or evolving SAHI-based automation suites.
  • Familiarity with Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) practices and experience using Cucumber to translate expected user behaviors and acceptance criteria into clear, executable test scenarios and maintainable automated test scripts.
  • Experience with performance testing and tools such as JMeter.
  • Experience testing AI-assisted features with non-deterministic outputs, including correctness, consistency, reliability, and safe fallback behavior.
  • Working knowledge of Jira and Atlassian Wiki, or comparable platforms, for defect management, test documentation, and collaboration.
  • Background in packaging, printing, or enterprise software product environments.
