The Studio Engineering Productivity team focuses on achieving two primary objectives: enhancing the productivity of both internal and external developers, and upholding our application's high standards of quality. Our team is essential for Roblox Studio, a desktop application that we release on a weekly basis for both Mac and Windows platforms. We collaborate closely with various Pods and an offshore QA team to ensure that every feature we deliver meets our rigorous quality standards. As the Quality Lead Engineer, you will play a highly visible and impactful role within the Studio organization!
Roblox Studio is the primary building tool for creating custom experiences in Roblox. It empowers developers of all skill levels with a rich and sophisticated suite of tools that enable them to exercise control and express their creativity. With Roblox Studio, you can bring the places of your inventiveness to life with ease. You will collaborate with the senior engineering manager for Roblox Creator Studio.
What You’ll Do:
We are looking for a highly motivated Senior QA Engineer - Roblox Studio with passion for creating and delivering exceptional, cutting-edge experiences. As part of the Roblox Studio QA team, you will be responsible for testing Roblox Studio and its components. You will lean your expertise in QA methodologies, tools, and processes to ensure the highest quality and reliability of Roblox Studio.
At Roblox Studio, we are heavily applying Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to tackle QA challenges, working on pioneering technology that enhances our testing processes. As a Senior QA Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work with these sophisticated technologies to drive innovation in how we test and ensure the quality of Roblox Studio.
You will:
- Design and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and scripts to validate Roblox Studio’s tools, components, and features.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate AI and ML-driven solutions into QA processes, optimizing test automation and efficiency.
- Analyze and report issues found during testing, providing detailed bug reports and collaborating with developers to resolve them.
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts using industry-standard QA tools and processes.
- Continuously supervise Roblox Studio’s performance and stability, proactively identifying potential issues.
You have:
- Participated in code reviews to ensure the quality of Roblox Studio’s codebase and ensure proper testing is integrated into development workflows.
- Created and maintained test environments, ensuring they reflect real-world scenarios.
- Build and refine tools and processes to improve testing efficiency, leveraging advanced technologies like AI and ML.
- Developed and maintained comprehensive documentation of test plans, processes, and results.
- Up to date knowledge on industry trends and best practices, particularly around AI, ML, and their application in QA.
You are:
- To be successful in this role, you will need a strong background in software testing and automation, as well as a deep understanding of development environment testing. You should have excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, along with a passion for innovation and quality.
For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.
Annual Salary Range
$168,620—$212,880 USD
Roles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
