For a European Institution in The Hague, we are currently looking for a Senior Python Developer with DevOps skills. The purpose of this position is the development of software that aims at modernizing the current data management systems.
Candidates need to be willing to work 1 week per 6 weeks on-site in The Hague, the Netherlands after Covid-19. Candidates need to be fluent in English. A work permit is required.
EU Candidates need to be fluent in English. This position is open for freelancers, who would like to commit long-term.
Due to corona, the start will be remote. As soon as the situation allows it, the role will become partly remote and 1 week on-site in The Hague, The Netherlands.
Tasks and responsibilities:
- Development of software and tools and its deliverables;
- Put in place the services and tools for acquiring every data collection;
- Produce technical and user documentation based on standard python tools for automatic document generation (sphinx, docutils, reStructuredText);
Profile:
- Bachelor and Master degree;
- +5 years of experience as Python developer, including the ability to develop and implement Python modules and packages;
- Usage of Atlassian Jira for tracking, sharing, and maintaining development process;
- Good experience for Jenkins based CI/CD pipeline building tools;
- Ability to write Dockerfiles, Jenkinsfiles, and Helm charts;
- Experience operating in a Kubernetes cluster (e.g. installing/configuring/maintaining applications in a namespace, editing of Helm charts, using Kubectl and ArgoCD);
- Experience with software development in a Kubernetes-based infrastructure, networking policies, LBs, deployment strategies, and cluster security;
- Apache Airflow;
- Fluent in English;

- Ability to write Dockerfiles and work with Docker containers
- Ability to create and edit Helm charts
- Experience operating and deploying applications in Kubernetes (kubectl, namespaces)
- Experience with ArgoCD and Kubernetes deployment/cluster management
- Knowledge of Kubernetes networking policies, load balancers, deployment strategies, and cluster security
- Experience with Apache Airflow
- Fluent English
- Work permit / right to work in the Netherlands (must have)
- Willingness to work on-site one week every six weeks in The Hague
