Lyft is looking for an experienced Senior Public Policy Manager to join our Policy Team! Based in New York City, this position will lead our policy efforts in New York. This stellar public policy and government affairs expert will craft Lyft’s policy priorities, and work directly with elected officials, policymakers, and key stakeholders at all levels of government. They will be dealing with a range of legislative and regulatory issues that are critical to the company. Come join the exciting ride!
Responsibilities:
- Partner with policymakers from across the political spectrum in the best interests of rideshare drivers and riders
- Develop and execute Lyft’s legislative, regulatory, and political strategy in New York and New York City
- Represent Lyft in all interactions with electeds, government and agency officials and staff, including providing testimony in legislative and regulatory hearings
- Speak publicly on behalf of Lyft at events, and with media in coordination with Lyft’s Communications team
- Track legislation relevant to Lyft at municipal, county and state levels
- Work cross-functionally with Lyft senior management on developing public policy priorities that advance Lyft’s operations and business interests
- Work closely with Lyft’s Operations, Legal, Compliance, and Communications teams on developing market strategy
- Inform company stakeholders and lines of business on legislative and regulatory developments
- Maintain relationships with industry trade associations, third party stakeholders, and relevant policy coalitions
- Track and respond to government inquiries and requests on policy issues
- Manage external consultants to assist with key Lyft policy priorities
- Draft comments, talking points and memos for senior Lyft executives
- Proactively inform company stakeholders and lines of business on legislative and regulatory developments

Experience:
- 7+ years of political, lobbying, or related government experience
- Experience directly lobbying New York State and municipal government officials on complex regulatory issues
- Law or Masters Degree preferred but not required
- Transportation related policy experience preferred
- Exceptional strategic and proactive problem-solving skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding environment
- Proven self-starter with experience leading and winning on complex policy issues
- Natural connector and relationship builder
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentation) - you know how to tell a good story and advocate your position

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year. #Hybrid
The expected base pay range for this position in the New York City area is $169,000 - $211,250. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
