Senior Protocol Engineer

Full time - Paris or London hybrid or Remote from Western EU

Responsibilities:

As a Senior Protocol Engineer at Kiln, you'll join our Infrastructure team and you will be responsible for:

• Doing technical due diligence on new protocols being evaluated for Kiln’s roadmap

• Running protocols in testnet on Kiln servers before handing them over to the Kiln Infrastructure team for mainnet / ongoing production

• Being a technical expert on relevant protocols to help answer internal and external questions on their operations — writing educational content

• Liaising with protocol foundation teams

• Representing Kiln at ecosystem events

Stack:

• Infrastructure: AWS, GCP, bare metal, Kubernetes, Terraform, Terragrunt, Prometheus, Thanos, Helm, Hashicorp Vault, FluxCD

• Software: Golang, Typescript, PHP, PostgreSQL, Solidity

• Tooling: GitHub Actions, Grafana, GitOps CI/CD pipelines

Requirements:

• 3+ years experience in the crypto industry. Demonstrated passion for the industry and following recent developments — with solid understanding of protocols, staking, and DeFi.

• 3+ years DevOps experience with a very strong focus on Kubernetes.

• You have run validator nodes (and not only blockchain nodes) yourself either professionally or as a hobbyist.

• Analytical mind and rigorous communication. You enjoy and are good at synthesising complex information and conveying your learnings both in oral and written format.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup/scale up environment

• Curiosity and ability to dig into a topic and take ownership to follow through.

Nice-to-have:

• Familiarity with high-availability systems at scale

• Experience designing, building and deploying user-facing, and/or API-based products.

• Previous work in SOC2, ISO 27001, or other certified environments
