The Senior Specialist, Project Manager, Vitality is a senior delivery leadership role responsible for the end-to-end management of the Vitality programme's project portfolio. The role combines hands-on delivery of key strategic projects with portfolio-level oversight, people leadership, and financial stewardship across all Vitality initiatives.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring that the Vitality programme delivers consistently, predictably, and in accordance with industry best practices. The role-holder will coach and develop junior delivery team members, maintain overall programme budget health, and act as a key interface between the Vitality technology team, senior business and technology stakeholders, including, but not limited to Legal, Risk and Finance teams.

Responsibilities

1) Portfolio Management & Governance

  • Maintain a consolidated, real-time view of all active and upcoming projects within the Vitality programme, ensuring full portfolio visibility for leadership and markets that we support.
  • Establish and enforce portfolio governance frameworks, prioritisation criteria, and stage-gate processes aligned to Amplify Health's delivery standards.
  • Manage cross-project interdependencies, resource conflicts, and capacity constraints across the Vitality portfolio.
  • Produce regular portfolio health reports, dashboards, and executive briefings for senior stakeholders and programme leadership.
  • Ensure alignment of the project portfolio with the Vitality platform roadmap, business strategy, and organisational priorities.
  • Facilitate portfolio planning cycles (quarterly and annual) including pipeline forecasting and resource allocation.

2) Project Delivery Leadership

  • Directly own and lead key strategic projects within the Vitality programme from initiation through to closure.
  • Define project scope, objectives, milestones, resource requirements, and success criteria in collaboration with business and technology stakeholders.
  • Drive delivery in Agile, hybrid, or waterfall environments as appropriate, ensuring adherence to agreed methodology and governance standards.
  • Proactively identify, communicate, and resolve project risks, issues, dependencies, and blockers before they impact delivery outcomes.
  • Ensure all project deliverables meet defined quality standards and business acceptance criteria prior to sign-off.
  • Oversee User Acceptance Testing coordination and production readiness activities for Vitality projects.

 

3) Estimation, Budget & Financial Management

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project cost estimates, business cases, and budget forecasts across the Vitality portfolio.
  • Own and manage overall Vitality programme financials, including budgets, actuals, forecasts, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
  • Partner with the Finance function to ensure accurate cost allocation, PO management, and timely financial close processes.
  • Provide robust effort and cost estimations to support investment decision-making and business case approvals.
  • Identify and drive cost optimisation opportunities across the portfolio without compromising delivery quality or timelines.
  • Maintain transparency with leadership on financial performance, flagging risks and variances proactively.

4) Risk, Quality & Governance

  • Identify potential risks and issues early in the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and implement mitigation strategies to address risks and resolve issues promptly.
  • Maintain a proactive approach to problem-solving and conflict resolution.
  • Ensure that all deliverables meet the highest quality standards.
  • Ensure thorough testing and validation of deployed solutions to confirm functionality and performance.
  • Maintain strong delivery governance, comprehensive project documentation, including plans, reports, and communication records.
  • Prepare and present project status reports to stakeholders, including senior management and clients.

5) Delivery Standards & Best Practice

  • Define, document, and embed project management best practices, templates, tooling, and delivery frameworks across the Vitality programme.
  • Ensure all projects adhere to industry-standard methodologies (e.g., Agile/Scrum, PRINCE2, PMI/PMBOK) appropriate to the context.
  • Drive consistency in delivery quality, reporting cadence, and governance practices across all Vitality projects and project managers.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, conducting retrospectives and lessons-learned reviews to raise programme maturity over time.
  • Act as the Vitality programme's subject matter expert and point of escalation for delivery methodology and standards.

 

6) People Leadership, Coaching & HR

  • Provide direct line management, coaching, and day-to-day guidance to junior project managers, delivery coordinators, and relevant delivery staff within the Vitality team.
  • Conduct regular one-to-ones, performance reviews, and development conversations, setting clear objectives and growth plans.
  • Support recruitment and onboarding of new delivery team members in partnership with HR.
  • Foster a high-performance, psychologically safe delivery culture built on accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure HR matters within the team are handled in a timely and consistent manner, in accordance with Amplify Health policies.
  • Act as an escalation point and advocate for team members, resolving blockers and supporting wellbeing.

Candidate Profile

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of project and programme management experience in technology or digital delivery environments.
  • Proven track record managing a portfolio of concurrent technology projects simultaneously.
  • Strong financial acumen, with direct experience in budget ownership, cost estimation, and financial forecasting.
  • Demonstrable experience leading, coaching, and developing junior team members in a delivery context.
  • PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, or equivalent project management certification strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum, waterfall, and hybrid delivery environments.
  • Familiarity with health, wellness, or insurance technology is advantageous.
  • Proficiency with project management tooling (e.g., Jira, Confluence, MS Project, Mirro) and reporting/BI tools.
