The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the coordination, implementation and execution of IT projects in Magna IT. For Magna this role requires a strong analytical skillset to be able to work on business requirements together with our cross-functional business ensuring consistency with the Magna IT strategy, commitments and goals.
Major Responsibilities
- Lead delivery of complex IT projects and strategic initiatives across multiple business functions
- Ensure alignment with IT and business strategy, value delivery, and benefits realization
- Manage scope, budget, schedules, risks, dependencies, and quality in accordance with PMO standards
- Support IT portfolio planning, prioritization, and transparency
- Lead steering committee meetings and provide executive‑level status reporting
- Drive stakeholder engagement, change management, and adoption of delivered solutions
- Apply waterfall, agile, or hybrid delivery models as appropriate
- Mentor and coach project managers; act as escalation point for complex issues
- Contribute to continuous improvement of PMO processes, tools, and governance
Qualifications and Education
- University degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent
- Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, IPMA) required or strongly preferred
- Agile certifications (Scrum Master, SAFe) are an advantage
Professional Experience
- 7–10 years of experience managing complex IT projects
- Proven engagement with senior business and IT stakeholders
- Experience across IT domains such as cloud, data platforms, applications, infrastructure, or integration
- Strong background in business requirements analysis and organizational change management
- Project experience based on technologies like MS SQL based web applications, MS Azure, MS PowerBI is an asset.
- Proven experience with business and requirements analysis.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent planning, analytical, and decision‑making capabilities
- Ability to work under pressure in complex, international environments
- Experience with project and portfolio management tools (MS Project, Project Online, Jira, Azure DevOps)
- Fluent English required
- Basic Understanding of IT Infrastructure, network, databases, web applications, data integration.
- Negotiation skills and political acuity to ensure that conflicts project and stakeholder requirements are managed to ensure a successful outcome.
- Interpersonal and oral/written communication skills to make presentations to senior management and other senior stakeholders.
