Senior Project Manager, PMO

The Senior Project Manager is accountable for the end-to-end delivery of complex, cross-functional IT projects and strategic initiatives. The role partners with business and IT stakeholders to define requirements, establish delivery strategies, manage execution, and ensure that projects achieve agreed business outcomes. The Senior Project Manager ensures alignment with Magna IT strategy, PMO governance standards, financial commitments, security requirements, and organizational priorities.

Major Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of complex IT projects and strategic initiatives across multiple business functions, regions, and technology domains.

• Ensure alignment with business and IT strategy, clearly defined success criteria, expected business value, and measurable benefits realization.

• Establish and maintain integrated project plans covering scope, milestones, budget, resource demand, risks, issues, dependencies, quality, and delivery commitments in accordance with PMO governance standards.

• Support IT portfolio planning, prioritization, and transparency

• Prepare and lead steering committee meetings, present concise executive-level status reports, facilitate decisions, and escalate material risks or issues with clear recommendations.

• Develop and execute stakeholder engagement, communication, organizational change, training, and adoption plans in partnership with business and change-management stakeholders.

• Select and tailor waterfall, agile, or hybrid delivery approaches based on project objectives, delivery risk, organizational readiness, and governance requirements.

• Mentor project managers, share delivery best practices, conduct project health reviews, and act as an escalation point for complex delivery challenges.

• Contribute to continuous improvement of PMO processes, tools, and governance.

• Own project financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, and variance analysis, and ensure timely corrective action where required.

• Define project resource requirements, secure commitments from functional teams, monitor capacity constraints, and resolve resource conflicts through appropriate governance channels.

• Manage third-party vendors and implementation partners, including deliverables, dependencies, commercial commitments, performance, and contractual escalations in collaboration with Procurement and Legal.

• Ensure compliance with PMO governance, project approval requirements, architecture standards, cybersecurity controls, data privacy requirements, audit expectations, and applicable corporate policies.

• Maintain transparent decision, risk, issue, dependency, and action logs, and ensure timely escalation with clear impact assessments and recommended actions.

• Conduct objective project health assessments and lead recovery planning for initiatives that deviate from approved scope, schedule, budget, quality, or expected outcomes.

Qualifications and Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
• A recognized project management certification, such as PMP, PRINCE2, or IPMA, is strongly preferred; equivalent demonstrated experience may be considered.
• Agile or scaled-agile certification, such as Scrum Master, Product Owner, or SAFe, is considered an asset.

Professional Experience

• Minimum of seven years of progressive experience leading complex IT projects, including responsibility for cross-functional and senior-stakeholder environments.
• Proven engagement with senior business and IT stakeholders
• Experience across IT domains such as cloud, data platforms, applications, infrastructure, or integration
• Demonstrated experience facilitating business analysis, requirements definition, process alignment, and organizational change.
• Experience delivering projects involving cloud platforms, enterprise applications, data and analytics, integration, infrastructure, cybersecurity, or digital workplace technologies is considered an asset. Experience with Microsoft Azure, Power BI, SQL-based solutions, and related enterprise technologies is beneficial.

• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
• Excellent planning, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• Ability to work under pressure in complex, international environments
• Experience with enterprise project and portfolio management tools, such as Planview Portfolio, Microsoft Project, Jira, or Azure DevOps.
• Fluent English required
• Solid foundational understanding of IT infrastructure, networks, databases, enterprise applications, web technologies, cloud platforms, and data integration.
• Strong negotiation, influencing, and organizational-awareness skills, with the ability to resolve conflicting project priorities and stakeholder requirements.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex information and recommendations to senior management and executive stakeholders.
