Role Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Engineer / Solutions Architect to lead the design, delivery, and architecture of complex, client-facing cloud and infrastructure projects. This hybrid role combines hands-on engineering, solution architecture, and client advisory responsibilities.
The ideal candidate will act as a senior technical authority across Microsoft 365 and Azure environments, driving end-to-end project delivery—from discovery and design through implementation and handoff. Success in this role is measured by delivering secure, scalable, and supportable solutions on time and within scope while elevating the technical maturity of clients and internal teams.
Duties and Responsibilities
Solution Architecture & Technical Leadership
- Design and lead end-to-end technical solutions across Microsoft 365, Azure, and hybrid environments
- Serve as senior technical authority on complex projects, providing architecture guidance, risk assessment, and escalation support
- Translate business requirements into secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions
- Develop technical roadmaps and modernization strategies aligned to client objectives
- Contribute to internal standards, best practices, and reference architectures
Project Engineering & Delivery
- Lead and execute complex projects including:
- Microsoft 365 email migrations (cutover, hybrid, tenant-to-tenant)
- Azure migrations (infrastructure, workloads, and applications)
- Identity modernization and tenant consolidation initiatives
- Windows 10 → Windows 11 upgrade programs
- Own projects from design through implementation, validation, and handoff
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned to best practices
- Produce high-quality technical documentation, diagrams, and runbooks
Microsoft 365 & Azure Expertise
- Architect and administer:
- Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive)
- Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager, including Autopilot and compliance policies
- Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), hybrid and cloud-only identity
- Design and manage Azure environments, including networking (VNets, VPNs, firewalls), compute, storage, governance, and monitoring
- Operate as a generalist across Azure services and solutions
Identity, Security & Incident Response
- Architect identity solutions including conditional access, MFA strategies, and lifecycle management
- Support and lead cybersecurity incident response efforts (containment, remediation, recovery)
- Implement security controls aligned with Zero Trust and NIST frameworks
Advanced Infrastructure Expertise
- Provide deep expertise in DNS architecture and troubleshooting
- Design and remediate SMTP/mail flow configurations
- Support web and database infrastructure, including IIS and SQL Server environments
Project Execution & Collaboration
- Partner with Project Managers to ensure alignment with scope, timelines, and milestones
- Track, update, and complete assigned tasks with full ownership
- Proactively identify and escalate risks, blockers, and scope changes
- Provide consistent updates to stakeholders and maintain alignment between technical execution and delivery timelines
Client Advisory & Mentorship
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, translating complex technical concepts into business-friendly language
- Participate in discovery sessions, solution design, and project scoping
- Support pre-sales efforts with technical validation and solution input
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team growth and knowledge sharing
Requirements
Qualifications
Required
- 8+ years of IT engineering experience, including MSP or consulting environments
- Proven ability to lead complex, multi-phase projects end-to-end
- Deep hands-on experience with:
- Microsoft 365 migrations and administration
- Azure infrastructure and migrations
- Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD and hybrid identity
- Intune / Endpoint Management
- Strong experience in Azure networking, governance, and architecture
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
Preferred
- Certifications such as:
- AZ-305: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
- AZ-104: Azure Administrator
- AZ-140: Azure Virtual Desktop
- MS-102: Microsoft 365 Administrator
- MD-101: Endpoint Administrator
- SC-100: Cybersecurity Architect
- Experience in DNS, SMTP/mail flow, IIS, SQL Server, and incident response
- Strong client advisory experience and ability to mentor junior engineers

- Startin pay: $130K - $150K per year.

- Schedule: Full-time, with occasional after-hours work for critical projects or incidents
- Work Environment: Fast-paced MSP environment supporting multiple client projects and priorities

Direct Reports: Currently none but potentially 1-2 in future
