About the role

Join a high-impact team supporting the development of advanced Information Systems for the Royal Canadian Navy.  This position offers the opportunity to apply your extensive skills and talents in project and program management to the design of IT and communication systems for Canada’s future warship class, the River-class Destroyer.  Working within a collaborative engineering environment, you will help shape innovative technical solutions and advance the digital backbone of Canada’s future naval fleet.

What You Will Do

 The key responsibilities of the position are:

 

·         Client and Industry Interaction:  Serve as a senior point of contact with all internal resources, clients, stakeholders, industry partners, and suppliers; facilitate effective communication, coordinate requirements and deliverables, manage expectations, and build productive relationships to support successful project execution

·         Program Management: Coordinate and manage program activities, schedules, resources, deliverables, risks, dependencies, and priorities across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives, client requirements, budgets, and timelines.  Provide leadership, mentoring and liaison support to group/team members while planning and orchestrating technical and programmatic work

·         Documentation:  Develop, maintain, and manage project and program documentation, including plans, schedules, status reports, meeting records, requirements, action items, decisions, risks, and deliverables, ensuring information is accurate, traceable, current, and readily accessible

Must-Haves:

 

·  Post-secondary education in Project Management, Business, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline’

·         Demonstrated experience coordinating or managing complex projects or programs

·         Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, processes, and best practices

·         Experience with project planning, scheduling, resource management, and project controls

·         Strong knowledge of risk and issue management, including identification, mitigation, and escalation

·         Demonstrated ability to manage scope, schedule, budget, dependencies, and deliverables

·         Experience with client, stakeholder, supplier, and industry engagement

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare project documentation and executive-level status reports and briefs

·         Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

·         Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Project, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint, or equivalent

·         Ability to interact with multi/interdisciplinary teams using strong interpersonal, communication, organizational and conflict resolution skills

·         Perform with a high level of confidentiality, diplomacy and professionalism

·         Use sound judgment and be able to perform well under pressure to meet strict deadlines

·         Provide services in a manner that supports and reflects positive cultural practices

·         Provide direction, guidance and support in the capacity of a program manager to address conflict openly and constructively

·         Maintain an attitude of caring, respect and optimism in all dealing with clients and peers

 

Mandatory Requirement:

·         Canadian citizenship, with 10 or more years residing in Canada with no periods longer than six continuous months out of country, is absolutely necessary as part of the requirements to obtain a government security clearance to the minimum level of Secret

 

Nice-to Have:

·         Experience in engineering, defense, government, technology, or other complex project environments

·         PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification
