ABOUT THE ROLE
This Senior Program Officer will be focused on Community Grants. It is a key position within the Programs team and reports to the Associate Director of Programs, while working in close collaboration with the Director of Programs and Senior Program Officers.
The Senior Program Officer – CG will be the primary person responsible for the strategy and implementation of the multi-year community grants program while supporting other grantmaking programs. The SPO-CG will work closely with the Associate Director of Programs and the Grants Team to review community grants applications, award grants, and maintain and evaluate the program. The SPO-CG will be entrusted to build relationships and be in communication with community grantees and distill communications and data in order to inform the programmatic strategies.
The SPO is expected to bring a wealth of knowledge in transformative philanthropy and be able to apply it to funding decisions; utilize relational and observational analyses of organizations and programming to inform decision making; be anchored in racial justice and anti-oppressive principles that center community trust and be an expert in relationship and community building. The SPO will be expected to conduct all aspects of their position in alignment to Pride Foundation’s values.
This is a full-time, exempt position. Flexibility to work some evenings, weekends, and occasional travel is required. Travel is estimated to be approximately 10 to 20 percent of work time across the five-state region.
Primary Responsibilities
The SPO-CG is expected to be thoughtful, creative, and a relationship-builder who can develop, lead, and implement Pride Foundation’s grantmaking strategies in line with our values and best practices in Trust-Based Philanthropy.
Grantmaking Strategy & Outreach (35%)
- In close collaboration with the Associate Director of Programs, lead the Community Grants program, including strategy and process development and evaluation.
- Support the Associate Director of Programs in building a comprehensive strategy for responsive funding and special initiative grant programs.
- Develop region-wide outreach strategies in collaboration with the Grants team.
- Identify and build relationships with new and emerging organizations and groups that are in line with Pride Foundation’s priority communities, in partnership with the Grants team.
- Gather information and data, and distill learnings and trends in LGBTQ+ communities across the region to inform our grants strategies.
Grantmaking Implementation (35%)
- Lead the implementation of all aspects of Pride Foundation’s Community Grants program, including outreach, grant application review, administrative processes, reporting, and due diligence.
- Lead the implementation of the grantmaking process of any responsive funding or special initiative programs.
- Build and maintain relationships with grantee organizations, regularly check in and keep up-to-date with organizational developments.
- Implement trust-based philanthropic principles throughout.
- Collaborate with the Programs Operations Manager on grants administration.
Programmatic Support (20%)
- Provide support to other grant programs (Capacity Beyond the Check and Movement Leadership Development initiatives) as needed, such as event attendance.
- Collaborate with the Grants Team and the Senior Communications Manager to ensure messaging on programs is consistent and aligned with Pride Foundation values, strategies, and priorities.
- Collaborate with Grants Team and the Senior Communications Manager to share grants program stories internally and externally.
Organizational Culture and Racial Justice (10%)
- Understand and integrate racial justice into individual and team workplans and broader strategic efforts.
- Commit to ongoing learning and growth related to racial justice and equity
- Actively participate in organizational culture building, including caucus spaces and learning opportunities.
- Work to identify and address structural inequities within program implementation and engagement.
- Contribute to a mission-driven, inclusive, and community-centered organizational culture.

- Experience working with/in communities impacted by systemic injustice, particularly within LGBTQ+, BIPOC, Two Spirit, trans, non-binary, intersex and/or gender diverse communities.
- Strong relationship building skills with demonstrated ability to work across diverse communities and geographies.
- Exceptional project management experience.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and coordination skills.
- Enthusiastic participant in feedback and evaluation.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and goals, and work collaboratively in team settings.

While not required, these are additional skills and experiences we are looking for in candidates:
- Experience working across rural, small-town, and urban communities in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington.
- Experience in community engagement, organizing, grantmaking, or program implementation, and/or other sectors that focused on providing programmatic and/or financial support to communities who have been systemically harmed by injustice.
- Experience working with Pride Foundation grantee organizations.
Benefits
Pride Foundation utilizes an equitable and competitive compensation program and salary structure that includes regular Cost of Living Adjustments and raises. For this position, the salary range is $89,000-94,000 annually, depending on experience. This salary is non-negotiable beyond this range to counter pay inequality and uphold internal parity for salaries.
