Your business
Business Banking (BB) manages relationships with Commonwealth Bank’s small-medium enterprise customers, mid-market corporate customers, and regional and agribusiness customers, providing a wide range of financial services and solutions. It also services our personal and institutional Banking customers. The Payments Product team is responsible for the product management and development of all CBA’s account based payment solutions for business clients.  The key objective of the team is to deliver transformative technology and innovative solutions with profitable growth, for customers across all segments of CommBank and covers three payment streams; Batch, Real Time and International Payments.

Reporting to the Chapter Lead, Batch Payments Product Management, you will be part of the Direct Entry/BPAY squad who is responsible for driving payment usage and conversion through channel engagement, frontline initiatives, process improvement, enhanced reporting as well as future opportunities to migrate BECS capability to help us meet customer needs.

Do Work That Matters

As a Senior Product Manager you will be responsible for obtaining information from various sources to generate meaningful business insights on performance and customer behaviour against key objectives. You will also be accountable for monitoring product performance, delivering continuous improvement and risk buy-down initiatives and ensuring compliance with all regulatory obligations. The role will require you to work closely with other Payments product teams, coverage, sales segments, risk, compliance, operations and analytics teams, in order to drive business outcomes.

Your key responsibilities / focus areas will include:

  • Assist monitoring the marketplace, and performance of products, to assess trends and results in order to recommend changes to improve performance
  • Reviewing customer pain-points in the product life cycle to identify and deliver customer experience improvement opportunities in the portfolio
  • Planning and leading the promotional efforts for new or enhanced product features or processes, including both internal and external marketing, communication and training, and relationship building activities
  • Monitoring business results of recently introduced or enhanced processes and recommending modifications in product features, process, and marketing approaches to improve results and embed take up against key objectives
  • Responsible for proactively managing risks associated to the products
  • Manage change to continuously improve the product offering and processes to facilitate the overall customer and banker experience
  • Building and fostering strong relationships across the product value chain e.g. frontline teams, digital, compliance, risk and marketing to ensure efficient delivery of product roadmap and resolution of issues
  • Working closely with Product Owners and technology teams to define and document detailed feature business requirements
  • Leading the Automation and Digitisation roadmap for DE/BPAY

We’re interested in hearing from people who have:

  • Deep understanding of the end-to-end domestic payments processes with sound knowledge of the Financial Services Industry (at least 5 years’ experience)
  • Project Delivery - Experience in Product Management, productivity, process management disciplines with a focus on delivery/project delivery
  • Advance stakeholder management skills with a proven history of influencing senior leadership across Product, Distribution and Risk Management
  • Advanced understanding of business customers and their journey across digital and assisted payment channels
  • Risk Mindset – All CommBank employees are expected to proactively identify and understand, openly discuss and act on current and future risks
  • Advanced problem solving capabilities – need to have the motivation and be comfortable with investigating and providing recommended options/solutions to complex problems
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple deliverables concurrently
  • Analytical mindset- need to be comfortable working with multiple data sources and generating relevant business insights and data backed recommendations to improve performance and customer experience
  • Commercially relevant degree at under-graduate or higher level
  • In addition to the above, customer engagement experience in some capacity, will also be highly regarded.
