Job Summary
As a Senior Product Manager of Payments, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of our payment platform solutions powering growth and enabling an exceptional patient experience across all of Nextech's specialties. You will lead cross-functional teams to design, develop, and optimize payment experiences that streamline revenue cycle operations and drive value for our clients. The ideal candidate is passionate about leveraging payments technology to solve complex healthcare challenges, is familiar with payment processing operations, and excels at translating market needs into actionable product strategies. This is a high-impact role where your vision and leadership will guide the evolution of our payments capabilities, ensuring they align with both client and business objectives.

Essential Functions

  •  In addition to working in accordance with appropriate conduct and behavioral standards, specific responsibilities of this role include:
  • Develop and communicate a clear product vision and strategy for the payments platform, aligning with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and customer needs
  • Drive the research, design, and implementation of payment solutions, checkout experiences, and revenue optimization features that improve collections and reduce friction for clients and their patients
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand and synthesize organizational goals and priorities as they pertain to the payments product portfolio
  • Gather insights into customer priorities and market imperatives around payment processing, turning these into structured inputs towards prioritization and roadmapping decisions
  • Oversee the end-to-end product development lifecycle for payments priorities, from concept to launch, ensuring high-quality, on-time delivery and seamless integration with existing systems
  • Communicate product roadmaps both internally and to clients, partners, and industry partners - Partner with UI/UX team to lead user-centric discovery activities to gain insights into payment workflows, pain points, and priorities, translating findings into product requirements and storyboards
  • Translate insights into epics and stories and develop and manage the backlog for payments features and integrations
  • Maintain knowledge of payments industry trends, PCI compliance, healthcare-specific payment regulations, and financial technology innovations as they relate to certifications and internal organization training
  • Partner with Technical Owners to continuously groom the backlog, conduct sprint planning, and participate in other agile ceremonies
  • Work with internal stakeholders to develop educational materials, webinars, and trainings in support of payments product enablement and adoption
  • Collaborate with payment technology partners to optimize integration performance, explore new capabilities, and ensure platform reliability
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned based on business needs 

Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years of product management experience within healthcare or B2B SaaS environment
  • Demonstrated curiosity and learning mindset with ability to quickly understand complex payment ecosystems; empathetic approach to understanding user needs; and bias toward action with track record of shipping products iteratively
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with business (practice) owners, operational leaders, finance/accounting professionals, and revenue cycle personnel to deeply understand business needs
  • Experience with developing consumer or patient-facing solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and work across functional teams (engineering, compliance, finance, sales) in a collaborative manner
  • Strategic thinker with ability to balance long-term vision with day-to-day execution of payment product initiatives
  • Familiarity with Jira and Agile/Scrum software development methodologies
  • Undergraduate degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience with payment systems, fintech products, or financial services technology. 
  • Understanding of payment processing fundamentals including authorization, settlement, reconciliation, and PCI compliance requirements
  • Knowledge of healthcare billing regulations and compliance requirements (HIPAA, state-level payment regulations)

Working Environment/Physical Demands

  • Nextech operates as a remote work organization 
  • Long-distance or air travel as needed – not to exceed 5% travel 
  • Activities require a significant amount of work in front of a computer monitor.
