EBANX is the leading payment platform connecting global companies with customers from the fastest-growing digital markets in the world.
Since the beginning of our journey, we have had one mission: to provide global access for everyone. We believe in transforming challenges into opportunities and making the impossible part of the journey. That's why we created a payment technology that builds bridges between people and businesses every day across rising markets around the globe.
We call ourselves ebankers. We are global thinkers, we value diversity, foster creativity, and work hard to connect businesses and people worldwide through payments.
We are looking for a Senior Product Manager, based in South Africa, to develop our product offering across the MENA region.
This is a highly cross-functional role at the intersection of Payments, Engineering, Finance, Operations, Treasury, Risk, Regulatory and Commercial teams.
You will be responsible for understanding the specificities of the markets under your scope and transforming them into scalable payment solutions for some of the world's largest digital companies. This includes everything from identifying opportunities and defining the product strategy to designing financial and operational flows, working with local partners, supporting integrations and taking solutions through launch and scale.
You will act as the product owner for the region, connecting local market realities with EBANX's global product strategy.
Besides conquering the world, your activities will be:
- Develop a deep understanding of the local payments ecosystem, including consumer behavior, payment methods, financial infrastructure, regulatory requirements, market practices and competitive landscape;
- Own new country and market expansion initiatives, working end-to-end from discovery and partner assessment to operational readiness, launch and scale;
- Design and evolve payment solutions covering the complete financial flow, including topics such as pay-in, settlement, FX, refunds, chargebacks, reconciliation, reporting and remittance;
- Translate complex market, merchant, regulatory and operational requirements into clear product strategies, requirements and scalable solutions;
- Partner closely with Engineering and Technical teams throughout discovery, solution design and delivery, balancing market requirements with scalability and technical feasibility;
- Work side-by-side with Regulatory, Legal, Risk, Treasury, Finance and Operations to design products and financial flows that are compliant, operationally sustainable and ready to scale;
- Engage directly with global merchants to understand their business models and payment needs, supporting strategic opportunities, RFPs/RFIs and merchant-specific product discussions;
- Build strong business cases and prioritize initiatives based on their potential impact on TPV, revenue, gross profit, merchant growth, operational efficiency, business continuity and EBANX's competitive positioning;
- Drive alignment across multiple stakeholders and countries, making trade-offs and ensuring teams have clarity on what we are solving, why it matters and what success looks like;
- Ensure product decisions, flows and operational processes are properly documented, creating the necessary artifacts and playbooks to support Engineering, Operations, Commercial teams and future market expansion;
- Stay close to market developments, competitors, regulatory changes and emerging payment trends, proactively identifying opportunities and risks for EBANX.
What’s mandatory:
- Solid experience in Product Management, with ownership of products or complex initiatives from discovery and strategy through execution, launch and continuous improvement;
- Proven ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy and ownership, navigating ambiguity and making decisions in complex environments;
- Strong business acumen and the ability to connect product decisions to commercial and financial outcomes;
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, including Engineering and business/operational stakeholders;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to structure complex problems and translate them into actionable plans;
- Excellent prioritization skills and the ability to manage multiple initiatives and stakeholders simultaneously;
- Ability to communicate complex topics clearly to technical, operational, commercial and executive audiences;
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, including the ability to drive decisions without relying on formal authority;
- Customer-centric mindset and the ability to understand the needs of both global merchants and local payment users;
- Fluent English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Based in South Africa and comfortable collaborating with teams and partners across different countries and time zones.
What else would we like to see?
- Previous experience in the payments, fintech, banking or financial services ecosystem;
- Experience launching products or payment capabilities in MENA, Africa or other emerging markets;
- Familiarity with regulatory environments and the ability to work effectively with Legal, Compliance and Risk teams;
- Experience working with banks, acquirers, PSPs, payment method providers or other local financial partners;
- Experience with market expansion or launching products across multiple countries;
- Experience supporting strategic enterprise merchants or complex B2B product discussions;
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Technology, Engineering, Finance or a related field.
What we value in this role
We are looking for someone who combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
Someone who can understand a new market, sit with a local partner to design a payment flow, challenge an operational process, discuss technical trade-offs with Engineering, navigate a regulatory constraint, support a strategic merchant conversation and then turn all of that into a clear product direction.
You should be comfortable operating in environments where the answer is not always obvious — bringing structure to ambiguity, connecting the right people and moving the business forward while building solutions that can scale beyond a single merchant or market.
