Job Description:
About AlationAlation is the creator of AIOS — the intelligence operating system for enterprises that cannot afford to get AI wrong. When software breaks, it throws an error. When an AI agent breaks, it produces a confident, wrong answer — and most organizations have no system to catch it before that answer drives a decision. AIOS keeps data, context, and agents in sync in one open, governed, self-improving system, so every decision an agent makes holds up.
Having pioneered the data catalog market, Alation is trusted by over 600 enterprises worldwide — including 40% of the Fortune 500 — to power their most critical data and AI initiatives. The problems we tackle are complex, high-impact, and deeply technical. This is not a slow-moving environment. We build fast, ship real things, learn from customers, and iterate relentlessly.
About the RoleAIOS doesn't work without connectivity. Agents fail when bad data reaches them, when context is stale, or when the environment shifts underneath them — and the defense against all three starts with rich, current metadata flowing in from the systems where enterprise data actually lives. Connectors are how AIOS sees the enterprise. That's this team's job, and it's getting harder and more interesting as the data and AI landscape shifts under everyone's feet.
We're looking for a Senior Product Manager to own this problem end to end. You'll inherit a portfolio of 80+ integrations spanning the modern and legacy data stack, and a mandate to define what connectivity means in an agentic world — new systems, new types of sources (including the agents and AI tools that are themselves becoming metadata sources), new extraction techniques, and AI applied wherever it genuinely moves the needle.
This is a senior IC role with real scope. You won't be handed a polished roadmap or mature systems — you'll sharpen the strategy, make the calls, and ship. This is a role for builders.
What You'll DoOwn the Connector mission: make it fast and easy for customers to bring rich, valuable metadata into AIOS
Drive the strategy for 80+ existing integrations — what to deepen, what to optimize, what to sunset
Lead expansion into new systems and entirely new categories of data sources as the AI landscape reshapes what "a data source" means
Turn ambiguous problems into clear direction, scoped bets, and shipped solutions
Talk to customers constantly — validate direction, pressure-test ideas, iterate fast
Work directly with engineering to define requirements, reason through tradeoffs, and move quickly
Apply AI strategically across the connector portfolio — both in the product and in how you work
Raise the bar on how we build, not just what we build
We care more about how you operate than where you've been. Traits and trajectory matter to us more than a checklist of domain credentials.
You might be a great fit if you:
Are gritty and resilient — you don't stall when things are unclear or hard
Have a strong sense of ownership — you feel accountable for outcomes, not just tasks
Are deeply curious — you ask why, dig into systems, and want to understand how things really work
Are AI-native by instinct — you already use AI tools daily to think, write, analyze, and prototype, and you actively push the people around you to work differently
Thrive in fast-moving, high-expectation environments
Love building, especially in under-defined or shifting problem spaces
Make decisions with incomplete information and adjust quickly
Communicate clearly and align engineers, designers, and stakeholders around a direction
5+ years in product management, engineering, or similar problem-solving roles — but we weight demonstrated traits and trajectory over years served
A track record of shipping real products or systems that customers used and cared about
Strong analytical thinking and comfort operating in complex, technical domains
Sharp written communication — PRDs, specs, narratives, decision docs
Preferred (not required): degree from a top-tier institution (IIT, IIM, XLRI or equivalent)
Preferred (not required): experience with enterprise data environments, data integration, metadata management, or developer-facing products
