The Role
Own beehiiv’s growth product area from signup through paid conversion, including onboarding, activation, upsells, trials, checkout, and lifecycle experiences. Lead the growth roadmap, define metrics, run high-velocity experiments, analyze funnel performance, and improve conversion across mobile and desktop. Prototype experiments using AI and the existing design system, collaborate with engineering, design, data, marketing, and product teams, and communicate results and trade-offs to leadership.
Summary Generated by Built In

beehiiv is the all-in-one newsletter and creator platform powering the next generation of media companies and independent voices. We help creators and businesses launch, grow, and monetize newsletters—now serving tens of thousands of publishers and reaching hundreds of millions of readers monthly. With $40M+ ARR, 100% YoY growth, and a newly expanded product suite (ad network, podcast, community, website builder, paid tiers), we’re entering our next phase of hypergrowth.

As our Senior Product Manager, Growth, you will own the most important stretch of the beehiiv journey: from the moment someone signs up to the moment they become a paying customer—signup, onboarding, activation, upsells, and trial-to-paid conversion.  It’s yours, end to end. You’ll be 100% dedicated to growth, working hand in hand with our Growth & Marketing team, and you’ll take over an active roadmap of onboarding and conversion experiments on day one.

This is not a traditional “write the spec and hand it off” PM role. We’re looking for an AI-native operator who can go from a data insight to a hypothesis to a working prototype in a day — using AI tools and our design system to produce near-finished designs yourself, and shipping alongside engineering without waiting on a designer for every experiment. Growth work here is outcome-based: a scrappier onboarding that converts better beats a beautiful one that doesn’t. You’ll work closely with Engineering, Design, Data, and the PMs who own our core product surfaces.

Compensation will be based on experience and location. Ideally, this candidate can work PST hours and access the site from their location.

Ideally, you will have:

  • 5+ years of experience in product management, with meaningful time spent owning growth, activation, onboarding, or monetization in a product-led SaaS business (not just core product/feature work)
  • A track record of moving a conversion metric — ideally free/trial-to-paid — through a high-velocity experimentation program: scoping A/B tests, sizing them properly, reading results honestly, and iterating fast
  • Strong analytical skills: you can self-serve in SQL and product analytics tools (e.g. Metabase, Amplitude, FullStory), break a blended number down by cohort, channel, and device, and tell the difference between a mix shift and a real product regression
  • AI-native ways of working: you already use tools like Claude, Cursor, or similar every day to prototype, analyze data, and write — and you’re comfortable producing engineer-ready PRDs plus near-finished prototypes within an existing design system
  • Good product and design taste, with the judgment to know which experiments can go straight from your prototype to production and which need a product designer’s input
  • Experience across the full trial funnel — onboarding flows, in-product upsells, paywalls and checkout, pricing and packaging, lifecycle and trial-expiry messaging — and how mobile and desktop users behave differently
  • Excellent communication and writing skills — you can clearly explain hypotheses, results, and trade-offs to cross-functional stakeholders, including leadership
  • Prior experience in the newsletter / media / creator / publishing / SaaS industry a plus
  • Strong organization skills: able to work independently with little direction when necessary
  • Genuine excitement about scaling a fast-growing platform
  • An ownership mentality

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Owning signup, onboarding, activation, upsells, and trial-to-paid conversion — and be accountable for the metrics that matter most: trial start rate, activation, and paid conversion
  • Own and prioritize the growth roadmap, weighing impact against effort with engineering, and run a steady cadence of experiments from hypothesis through readout
  • Fix the highest-friction moments in the funnel: the mobile-first experience and mobile-to-desktop handoff, trial start, checkout, and getting new users to their first “aha” moment (first post sent, first subscribers imported, website live)
  • Design upsell and trial experiences that let users actually experience our most valuable features — like automations, custom domains, and team collaboration — before they hit a paywall
  • Build agent-first onboarding: define how users set up beehiiv through AI agents (via our MCP) as well as in-app, including AI-assisted onboarding inside the product
  • Turn signups that didn’t convert in their trial — including high-value and returning accounts — into paying customers through lifecycle, offers, and trial-period experiments
  • Partner with Growth Marketing on acquisition quality, paid funnels, and lifecycle messaging, so that what happens before and after signup works as one system
  • Define success metrics and event tracking up front for every experiment, so we always know what moved and why
  • Prototype and design your own experiments using AI and our design system, and work with our product designers on higher-ambiguity problems
  • Collaborate closely with the PMs who own core product surfaces (editor, website, monetization) on activation moments that cut across their areas
  • Present your thinking, results, and trade-offs to the product and leadership team, and incorporate feedback quickly

Why this role might be for you:

  • Join a fast-growing start-up and own a dedicated growth surface that hasn’t had a single owner before
  • High impact and high visibility — your work directly moves revenue and shapes the first impression of every beehiiv user
  • You’re an AI-native builder who wants the autonomy to go from idea to shipped experiment without waiting in a queue
  • You’re autonomous and excited about owning projects end to end, from problem framing through shipped experiment
  • Excited about new challenges and executing creative solutions in an ambiguous, fast-moving surface area

Why this role might not be for you:

  • Not a traditional 9-to-5 position
  • Need to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders
  • Must be comfortable with rapid iteration and frequent context switching
  • High expectations for both speed and quality
  • You prefer writing specs and handing off over getting hands-on with data, prototypes, and AI tools
  • Must navigate complex organizational dynamics

  • Strong product and design judgment
  • Experience across onboarding, upsells, paywalls, checkout, pricing, packaging, lifecycle messaging, and trial expiration
  • Understanding of mobile and desktop user behavior differences
