Description

About the Company

ARC is a rapid-growth enterprise technology company. Since launching in late 2021 to serve frontline workers, ARC has become a category-defining device management solution and trusted partner to some of the world’s largest enterprises, including Walmart,  lululemon, Gap, ShipBob, and several global leaders in supply chain and logistics. ARC was born out of ChargeItSpot, the consumer-facing tech company that pioneered phone charging solutions starting in 2012.

Through smart lockers integrated with proprietary software, ARC stores, secures, and charges the company-owned handheld devices (made by Zebra, Honeywell, and others) that frontline workers rely on every day for package scanning, inventory lookup,

task management, mobile point of sale, and more.

Clients turn to ARC because managing and maintaining enterprise mobile devices post- purchase is harder than it looks. Devices go missing (~25% annually), stop working, or run out of power, costing payroll time, money, and productivity. ARC virtually eliminates

these issues, ensuring devices are functional, charged, and accounted for – while improving productivity and experience for teams on the ground.

Market demand for ARC has been overwhelming. Device management has been a massive unmet need for decades, and ARC – backed by a decade of technical expertise and a homegrown patent portfolio – is uniquely positioned to solve it.

ARC’s Mission

Minimize Device Waste. Maximize Worker Productivity. Make Life Easier.

ARC’s Vision

Be the unrivaled leader in physical device management. With more than 25,000 ARC units deployed by 2030, ARC will simplify life for more than 1,000,000 workers every day.

  • We do what we say we will do.
  • Details matter. A lot.
  • Bias for action.
  • Customer obsession.
  • Diversity and authenticity.

Requirements

About the Role

As a Senior Product Manager, Electrical & Embedded Systems, you will be responsible for ensuring that the ARC system delivers optimal charging to a variety of enterprise mobile devices, including those distributed by Zebra, Honeywell, Samsung, Apple, and more.

You will write the hardware and firmware requirements that our engineers, software teams, and outside design firms build from, defining what our boards report and which devices they accept. You will also investigate why hardware fails in the field and feed what you find back into those requirements.

This is a senior position where you are comfortable understanding low-level hardware/firmware interface concepts deeply enough to write clear specifications/requirements and evaluate tradeoffs to be transferred to our various development teams.

This role reports to the Director of Electrical Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Define requirements for our custom charging boards around specific firmware implementations and features relating to device detection and power negotiation  for our software teams and design firms to build against
  • Draft and execute verification and validation test plans for new board revisions and devices.
  • Investigate hardware failures in the field end to end; gather information from ARC support staff, reproduce the failures on the bench, find the root cause, and write the report that becomes the record.
  • Run hardware programs with our vendors, contract manufacturers, and outside design partners, holding them to schedule and to specifications.
  • Work closely with sales, client success, and operations teams to investigate the compatibility of critical client devices and evaluate the technical capabilities of our system.
  • Maintain firmware compatibility matrix to ensure only approved configurations are deployed to clients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5 + years of experience in electrical engineering or hardware product management.
  • Experience with embedded systems, enough to look at a board design and specify what the firmware needs to do.
  • Hands-on experience working on a PCB (schematic, layout, firmware) and familiarity with how a board gets fabricated and assembled.
  • Able to take a hardware failure from first report to root cause.
  • Background in designing and testing power management circuitry.
  • Comfortable with EE lab equipment, including oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
  • A track record of writing requirements or specifications that engineering teams and outside vendors built from.
  • Experience running programs with outside vendors, manufacturers, or engineers, holding them to a schedule and a specification and escalating when they miss.
  • A clear writer and direct communicator, able to work independently and carry several investigations at once.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of USB Power Delivery, PPS or Quick Charge, and experience with USB analyzers.
  • Familiar with planning and running EMC and regulatory testing, particularly FCC Part 15B.
  • Able to write test automation and scripting, or building test fixtures and benches.
  • Experience managing large production builds and product launches.
  • You've worked at a startup or on a small team.

The Candidate

You think several steps ahead. You are relentless, strategic, and a long-term thinker. You believe the details are important and so you get them right. You are a fast learner. You take feedback well and implement it. You care about getting to the best outcome, and do not focus on being right or wrong.

Location

We are headquartered in Philadelphia, PA and the team operates in East Coast business hours. This is a hybrid position. Candidates are expected to work at least 3 days/week in the office.

Benefits

  • Health, dental and vision insurance
  • Health Care FSA
  • 401k plan with matching company contributions
  • Paid time off
  • Hybrid work environment
