We’re on a mission to deliver riveting storytelling for all of America. At The Washington Post, you’ll help reinvent news. Our work is driven by a deep investigative spirit and enhanced by innovation to bring audiences closer to the stories that matter most.

About Our Team

The Washington Post is powered by the passion and talent of our people. It takes all of us to reinvent news. Beyond our award-winning Newsroom and Opinions teams, we work across many departments, including Brand & Events, Communications, Customer Care, Engineering & Product, Finance, Human Resources, Legal, Marketing & Advertising, Print Operations, and Sales.

Why This Role Matters

The Washington Post is seeking a Senior Product Manager to join our Content Experience Product team, reporting to the Head of WP Product and Product Design.

This role is focused on evolving how users engage with our journalism — across formats like text, video, and audio, and across platforms including web, app, and distributed channels. You'll help shape the user experience of how our stories are presented, consumed, and optimized for impact.

Success in this role requires a deep and meaningful partnership with our newsroom, working closely with editorial stakeholders to align product decisions with journalistic goals, audience needs, and platform strategy.

What Motivates You
  • You care deeply about journalism and the role the product can play in making it more engaging, accessible, and impactful.

  • You enjoy working at the intersection of editorial, design, and technology—translating strategy into user-centered experiences.

  • You value thoughtful collaboration with cross-functional partners, especially in high-stakes, fast-moving environments.

  • You’re motivated to think differently, invent the future, and challenge assumptions about what engagement should look like.

How You'll Support the Mission
  • Lead strategy and execution across initiatives that shape how our journalism is presented and experienced

  • Partner closely with editorial stakeholders to understand goals, workflows, and opportunities for storytelling innovation

  • Define and manage product roadmaps that improve content presentation, user engagement, and overall experience

  • Drive product discovery and experimentation in collaboration with engineering, design, and newsroom teams

  • Communicate vision, priorities, and tradeoffs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Contribute to product culture through mentorship, clear thinking, and a strong sense of ownership

The Skills and Experience You Bring
  • 5–7 years of product management experience, including ownership of consumer-facing digital products

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Media, Computer Science, Business, or related disciplines)

  • Experience working in content or information-driven companies.

  • Strong track record of leading complex, cross-functional initiatives from concept through launch and iteration

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, especially with editorial and technical teams

  • Ability to think strategically and make data-informed decisions in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working at a media company or with audience-facing multimedia products such as video players, streaming platforms, etc.

  • Familiarity working with generative AI technologies and incorporating them into user-facing product experiences

  • Understanding of content packaging, distribution strategies, and engagement metrics

Collaboration makes us stronger. That’s why our offices are designed with open layouts, modern technology, and easy access to transportation. With certain exceptions for newsgathering and business travel, we work on-site five days a week.
