Position Description:

Modern Family Law, a boutique law firm specializing in family law, is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Product Designer (UX/UI) to help shape and improve the experience of our client-facing legal technology platform.


Our platform helps clients navigate complex legal matters by completing tasks, providing case information, uploading documents, making payments, and communicating with their legal team. While our product is actively used today, we are looking for someone who can identify friction points, improve usability, and create intuitive experiences that help clients confidently move through their legal journey.


This role is heavily focused on user experience, workflow optimization, and product design. You will work closely with stakeholders and Development to understand user behavior, simplify complex processes, and design scalable solutions as the platform continues to grow.

The ideal candidate combines strong UX thinking with excellent visual design skills and has experience designing SaaS products with complex workflows.


Key Responsibilities

  • User Experience & Research
  • Analyze user behavior and identify friction points throughout the client journey.
  • Conduct usability testing and user research to understand pain points and opportunities for improvement.
  • Review support requests, customer feedback, and product usage patterns to uncover UX issues.
  • Create user journeys, process maps, wireframes, and prototypes
  • Simplify complex workflows and improve task completion rates

Product Design

  • Design new product features from concept through implementation.
  • Improve existing workflows including onboarding, authentication, task management, payments, document uploads, and client communications.
  • Create intuitive experiences that guide users through complex legal processes.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and Engineers to translate business requirements into user-centered solutions.
  • Develop high-fidelity designs and interactive prototypes in Figma.

 

Design Systems & Scalability

  • Establish and maintain a scalable design system.
  • Create reusable design patterns and components.
  • Ensure consistency across the product experience.
  • Help define UX standards and best practices for future development.

Analytics & Optimization

  • Define and track UX success metrics.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to implement analytics and user behavior tracking.
  • Identify drop-off points and opportunities for conversion improvements.
  • Use data and user feedback to drive design decisions.

Success in This Role:

Within your first 6-12 months, you will:

  • Improve the usability of key client workflows.
  • Reduce user confusion and support requests.
  • Increase completion rates for onboarding and client tasks.
  • Improve payment and document submission experiences.
  • Establish a framework for measuring UX effectiveness.
  • Create scalable design standards for future product growth.
  • Help shape the long-term product experience and strategy.

Collaboration and Integration

  • Partner closely with attorneys, legal staff, operations leaders, product stakeholders, and development teams to understand client needs, business workflows, and product requirements. 
  • Collaborate with developers and technology stakeholders to ensure design solutions are feasible, scalable, and aligned with the overall product roadmap. 
  • Translate complex legal and operational processes into clear, user-friendly product experiences.

  • Ability to identify process gaps and recommend practical solutions to improve efficiency, consistency, and operational effectiveness 
  • Flexibility and ability to respond positively to shifting priorities and business needs 
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and professionalism 
  • Ability to work in a primarily computer-based environment, including extended periods of sitting, screen time, typing, and use of standard office equipment 
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move office equipment or materials weighing up to 10 pounds 

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Product Design, UX Design, or a related field.
  • Experience designing SaaS or web-based applications.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating UX problem-solving and workflow optimization.
  • Expertise in user flows, wireframing, prototyping, and interaction design.
  • Advanced proficiency with Figma.
  • Experience collaborating closely with Product Managers and Engineers.
  • Strong understanding of information architecture and usability principles.
  • Experience designing for complex, multi-step workflows.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in LegalTech, FinTech, HealthTech, Insurance, or other workflow-heavy industries.
  • Experience conducting usability testing and user research.
  • Experience implementing or leveraging product analytics.
  • Experience building and maintaining design systems.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and best practices.

Compensation and Benefits: $100,000 - $115,000. This range is a reasonably reliable estimate of the base salary that this individual is expected to receive. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. 

Comprehensive benefits package includes health insurance, HSA/FSA options, short-term and long-term disability, dental and vision care, life insurance, 401(k), vacation, sick time, and access to an employee assistance program.  Additional voluntary benefits include accident insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, critical illness insurance, long-term care insurance, and pet insurance. Commuter and transit benefits may be available in some locations.
