Senior Product Designer

Join the Synthetix Core Contributor community as a Senior Product Designer and help build the future of DeFi. The team is currently located in multiple time zones but this role is in person in Sydney, Australia only. If you are not located in Sydney you must be willing to relocate for this role.

Synthetix is an open-source derivatives liquidity protocol on Ethereum, Optimism, and Base, which enables collateral on-chain to back stablecoins, spot synthetic assets, perpetual futures markets, and more. Synthetix Perps has generated over $60B in volume and is rapidly scaling with cross-chain deployments and increased activity.

Synthetix has a thriving ecosystem of projects that are integrated with the protocol, building bots, front-end applications, and smart contracts/protocols that have integrated with Synthetix markets and liquidity functionality. This includes CyberDEX, Mass, dHedge, Thales, Overtime, and many more to come.

We’re driven by startup values - we iterate fast, test often, and automate wherever possible. We have some of the most complex dApps on Ethereum powering an ecosystem of other protocols and are constantly building new interfaces and making improvements to existing assets.

Historically we’ve provided a lot of the building blocks for the crypto ecosystem, but we’re refocusing our attention on creating incredible user experiences across our product range. This recently resulted in the acquisition of two partner protocols - Kwenta and TLX - to ensure we can provide excellent user experiences across the full stack.

Responsibilities:

• Support the wide variety of Synthetix ecosystem dapps working closely with the Product Owners, UX/UI designers, crypto SMEs and FE Engineers
• Conduct user research to define and understand our customer base deeply
• Work tightly with our Product Owners who are responsible for ensuring we are building the most valuable things. Influence prioritisation through your user-driven insights and consultation with SMEs.
• Design industry-leading user experiences that quickly build trust with both existing and first-time users, rapidly get them to value (or “aha”) and develop love of our products
• Produce wireframes/mockups that map out user journeys based on your judgement that is informed by our Product Owners, SMEs and user research
• Work tightly with our UX/UI designer to ensure they are creating top-shelf high fidelity designs that capture your intended user journeys and are consistent with our design system
• Work with FE engineers to align on components to ensure that the product being built follows the user journeys you’ve mapped out
• Work with Product Managers to ensure that the product is being built in alignment with your intended functionality

Ideal candidates:

• Have a solid work portfolio available to explore
• A track record of designing complex products, ideally financial or crypto
• Have familiarity with the broader Ethereum DeFi ecosystem
• Demonstrable ability to collaborate and influence the team around you through excellent communication such that you can align everyone around your intended user experience designs
• Intellectually curious and enjoy moving fast
• Willing to work in person in Sydney, Australia
• Willing to be flexible with availability to accommodate the fast-paced nature of the cryptocurrency market and open to occasional travel for events
