ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Intelsat Inflight has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Principal Software Engineer. You will be part of a team responsible for
• Airborne System Software design and architectural improvements. • Evolving and scaling the platform for any WAN technologies (ATG4/ 2Ku/ ESA etc.) • Delivery of application technology solutions and data information planning efforts.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS
The ideal candidate for this role will be a working member of an engineering team delivering quality tech-nical solutions by providing architectural idea for the new or improved application. This role requires solid understanding of the design, architectural flows and scaling the performance, using CI / CD technologies. Primary Responsibilities will include to
Core Responsibilities• Design & Architecture: Creating the overall picture on the architectural changes, defining components, their interactions, and selecting tech stacks (languages, frameworks, databases).• Requirements Translation: Analyzing business needs and translating them into technical specifications and architectural designs.• Technical Leadership: Guiding developers, enforcing coding standards, managing technical risks, and ensuring architectural integrity.• Stakeholder Communication: Collaborating with clients, developers, and managers to align technical solutions with business goals.• Quality Assurance: Overseeing testing, ensuring systems meet non-functional requirements (security, performance, scalability).• Documentation: Creating clear documentation (diagrams, design principles) for the team and stakehold-ers.
Key Focus Areas• System Structure: Defining layers, modules, and how they connect.• Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs): Ensuring the system is reliable, secure, performant, and main-tainable.• Trade-off Management: Balancing competing factors like budget, time, technology, and business goals.
COMPETENCIES
• Good communication skills including technical documentation, written reports and proposals, de-velopment and delivery of presentations and the ability to listen to and communicate effectively with customers and vendors. • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, yet cooperatively in a dynamic, matrixed environ-ment.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Masters or bachelor's degree in computer science, electronics engineering or related technology - advanced degree preferred.• Minimum 15 years of experience in the Software industry with 3 years of working on the architect.• Good development experience with Java / C++ / C / Go. • Experience in CI/CD and AWS deployments (EC2, SQS, SNS, Lambda, S3, Aurora, DynamoDB)• Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycles; expert knowledge in Agile and Lean methods. • Ability to support architectural suggestions and bring up a high available and scalable system.• Proponent of DevOps, TDD, Agile/XP practices, and CI/CD pipelines • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize work, coordinate with onsite stakeholders and well orga-nized.• Flexibility in working with technologies and platforms.• A commitment to excellence, best practices, and the continuous improvement of our products, code base, processes, and tools.
