The Role

Senior Principal Global Places & Services, Places Design

Singapore, APAC

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

The GPS Places Team serves employees, vendors and the business by delivering best-in-class experiences that attract and retain talent.  The team is composed of five critical functions: program operations, real estate, standards, program management, and design. Design—inclusive of architecture and brand—directly manages a diverse, global real estate portfolio by leveraging location-focused capabilities.

If this is you, you will report to the Global Design Director, developing location-focused strategies, and driving design execution with the support of global vendors including architecture, engineering, and brand agencies. You will have cross-functional alignment with internal teammates in Real Estate, Operations, Program Management, Food Services, Security, Technology, and Sport.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking a Senior Principal to assume design ownership for all phases of commercial projects. This role includes responsibilities in programming, space planning, concept design, technical documentation, finish specifications, and construction administration. The ideal candidate will lead presentations with business stakeholders and external vendors, conduct vendor interviews, and represent our company on a global scale. Additionally, they will manage the production of design deliverables, including architectural drawings, brand packaging, mock-ups, technical documentation, and FFE (Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment) specifications.

The Senior Principal will ensure that projects are delivered in an organized manner, maintaining schedules and budgets. They will collaborate closely with regional Nike offices and leadership to drive business development initiatives, as well as identify and manage strategic vendors, overseeing the process from program definition to building activation.

We are looking for someone with:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Architecture or Interior Design from an accredited program.
  • NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification) licensure or Registered Architect status.
  • At least 10 years of experience in architecture and commercial interior design, including workplace strategy, environmental branding, and facilities management.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam, and PowerPoint. Experience with 3DS Max, Rhino, Grasshopper, or Enscape is a plus.
  • Exceptional storytelling and communication skills, with the ability to articulate the design vision and persuade a diverse audience.
  • A passion for nurturing creativity among vendors and teammates, while demonstrating the ability to lead by example.
  • The ability to develop and cultivate strategic partnerships with internal executive leadership, municipal officials, external vendors, and project and facility managers.
  • Advanced knowledge of the architectural planning and design process, including code requirements and building systems—structural, MEP, and fire/life safety.
  • A demonstrated commitment to resilience and sustainable building practices, with experience in completed works that focus on sustainable solutions, carbon-neutral goals, WELL/Fit/LEED accredited projects, and/or net-zero design.
  • Approximately 15% travel required within China and Greater Asia.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

GPS Places is seeking a Senior Principal to lead design operations across Asia, Pacific America, and Greater China.

As the Senior Principal, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Oversee project delivery through all phases of design and construction, including programming, concept design, schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration.
  • Manage external creative partners to ensure a clear design vision while adhering to the project schedule and budget.
  • Organize site visits to interview key business stakeholders, assess existing building conditions, and facilitate project delivery with our external vendors.
  • Coordinate construction efforts across all trades, including architecture, branding, engineering, structural, and AV/IT, based on the project scope.
  • Maintain clear communication with internal business partners and GPS teammates to achieve key business goals and enhance user experiences.
  • Fulfill Nike's mission to make sport accessible to everyone, embodying the belief that if you have a body, you’re an athlete.
