Position Summary:
The Senior Principal Engineer, Network Security is a senior-level technical expert responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced network security solutions that protect the organization's infrastructure and data. This role focuses on secure connectivity, troubleshooting complex issues, automating security processes, and responding to emerging threats. The Senior Principal Engineer collaborates across teams to lead technical initiatives, provide mentorship, and ensure compliance with security standards and regulations.
The preference is for candidates to be located within a reasonable distance of our Conshohocken, PA or Carrollton, TX offices. However, individuals in other locations will also be considered. Those not based near a primary site should expect to travel to these locations as needed.
Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership and Strategy
  • Lead the design and implementation of advanced security measures, tools, and solutions across enterprise systems, including ZTNA, CASB, SSE, and secure connectivity architectures.
  • Provide technical leadership for highly analytical and complex projects, ensuring successful delivery of security solutions that align with business needs.
  • Analyze trends in the threat and compliance environment, advising on organizational risks and executing mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee risk and compliance self-assessments and coordinate third-party risk and compliance evaluations.

Architecture and Design
  • Develop and implement security controls and procedures in the acquisition, development, and change management lifecycle of information systems.
  • Design secure connectivity solutions, ensuring optimal system performance and compliance with enterprise security policies.
  • Review technical and functional design documents, building and maintaining cybersecurity, data security, and cloud security solutions.
  • Coordinate with IT and business leaders to design security systems that effectively protect physical and intangible assets.

Incident Response and Threat Management
  • Lead responses to security incidents, including investigations, countermeasures, and recovery efforts, while engaging third-party responders as necessary.
  • Formulate methodologies to monitor security-related events, respond to incidents, and assist in remediation efforts.
  • Monitor and analyze emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and exploits relevant to the organization's infrastructure and products.

Operational Excellence
  • Research and deploy tools for Cyber Operations, Threat Hunting, Vulnerability Management, Mobile Security, IoT, and Cloud environments.
  • Provide technical guidance to network and systems administrators to ensure security standards are met and systems are optimized for performance.
  • Automate security processes and system administration tasks to improve efficiency and resilience.
  • Ensure service-level agreements (SLAs) are maintained to uphold critical security controls.

Collaboration and Communication
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for product research and development teams, working closely with software engineers, product managers, and IT staff to implement security solutions.
  • Communicate advanced security concepts effectively with clients, peers, management, and vendors.
  • Provide security briefings and insights from metrics and KPIs for executive reviews, advising on critical issues affecting the enterprise.
  • Partner with systems and network engineers to ensure servers and network devices meet security standards and that controls work as designed.

Mentorship and Team Development
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to other engineers in the Information Security Office (ISO) to help them execute their responsibilities effectively.
  • Lead initiatives to improve team skills in troubleshooting, automation, and advanced security practices.

Education and Experience Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in network security, information security, or a related field.
  • Proven expertise with ZTNA, CASB, SSE, secure connectivity, and advanced troubleshooting techniques.

Technical Skills Requirements:
  • Advanced knowledge of cybersecurity tools and technologies, including Threat Hunting, Vulnerability Management, Offensive Security, Cloud Security, IoT, and Mobile Security.
  • Strong experience in security automation, system performance optimization, and incident response methodologies.
  • Familiarity with major cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) and industry compliance standards.

Leadership and Communication Skills Requirements:
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex security concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to solve complex business challenges using innovative and effective technical solutions.

Preferred Certifications
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)
  • Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
  • GIAC Certifications (e.g., GSEC, GCIH)

Salary Range*
$124,000 - 190,850
*This Salary Range reflects a National Average for this job. The actual range may vary based on your locale. Ranges in Colorado/California/Washington/New York/Hawaii/Vermont/Minnesota/Massachusetts/Illinois State-specific locations may be up to 10% lower than the minimum salary range, and 12% higher than the maximum salary range.
