Position Summary

The Senior Pricing Manager owns the design, maintenance, and governance of JM Eagle’s pricing architecture across all four product lines (HDPE, PVC, ABS, and MDPE) and six sales channels (Waterworks, Electrical, Retail, Irrigation, Plumbing, and Energy), spanning multiple plants, regions, and customer segments. This role builds and maintains the base pricing matrix, regional freight and competitive pricing structure, and customer rebate tier program, and serves as the primary point of accountability for realized margin performance on quotes. The role also acts as a direct pricing advisor to Sales Management, as the central point for aggregating competitive pricing intelligence submitted by the sales organization, and as the owner of customer profiling and pricing tier development. This is a standalone, individual contributor role with no direct reports.

This is a newly created role responding to a high-volume, low-structure quoting environment (hundreds of quotes per day across roughly 1,000 SKUs), with the mandate to bring consistency and margin discipline to a process currently run without a formal pricing matrix.

Key Responsibilities

Pricing Architecture

  • Build and maintain base list pricing by SKU family across all four product lines and six sales channels.
  • Develop and maintain the regional pricing structure, incorporating freight cost differentials by plant and zone, volume, and competitive intensity adjustments in high-competition regions such as Texas and Florida.
  • Maintain Gross cost, Net cost (after freight), and Net Net cost (after rebate) as the standard framework applied to every quote.
  • Analyze internal order and quote data to identify the actual prices at which orders are being secured by customer and by volume, and use those findings to set and refine pricing for each market and region.

Sales Advisory

  • Serve as the primary pricing advisor to Sales Management, providing guidance on deal-specific pricing, quote strategy, and negotiation positioning.
  • Recommend pricing actions to Sales Management on specific accounts, regions, and product lines based on margin performance and market conditions.

Market and Competitive Intelligence

  • Serve as the central point of contact for competitive pricing information submitted by the sales organization, aggregating and organizing intelligence from the field.
  • Proactively develop external sources of market and competitive pricing information, including distributor contacts, industry data, and other market channels.
  • Synthesize internal order data and external market intelligence into a consolidated view of competitive positioning by region and product line.

Customer Segmentation and Pricing Tiers

  • Develop customer profiles based on volume, region, product mix, and account potential.
  • Build a customer tiering framework for pricing purposes, distinct from the rebate tier structure, that reflects each customer's profile and value to JM Eagle.

Rebate Program Management

  • Help devise and maintain the customer-level annual volume rebate tier structure.
  • Maintain accurate rebate tier assignments per customer and ensure rebate calculations are applied correctly to Net cost to produce Net Net cost.
  • Partner with Finance to maintain a live rebate accrual forecast, rather than relying on year-end reconciliation, to avoid margin surprises when actual customer volume diverges from forecast.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Work closely with the Production and Finance team on total delivered cost modeling, since freight and network assumptions feed directly into regional pricing.
  • Work with Purchasing on raw material cost inputs that drive base pricing updates.
  • Partner with Finance on rebate accrual accuracy and realized margin reporting.
  • Partner directly with Sales Management as an ongoing pricing resource, and establish a routine channel through which the sales team submits competitive pricing information for aggregation.

Reporting and Analysis

  • Track realized Net Net margin by customer, region, and product line.
  • Identify where actual quoting behavior deviates from the matrix and quantify the margin impact.
  • Provide regular reporting to leadership on pricing performance and matrix effectiveness.
