The Specialised Compute Services team delivers high-value hosting and services within CommBank Enterprise Services. Utilising technologies such as IBM i (AS400/iSeries), IBM p (AIX/pSeries), Linux, Unix, Wintel/x86, Nonstop (Tandem), MQ, Autosys and XCOM, the team operates in a complex environment that offers exciting challenges and opportunities to make a real impact.
Your Impact and Contribution
As a Senior Platform Engineer – Scheduling, you’ll manage critical platforms that underpin workload processing for nearly 300 applications across the bank. With new services launching frequently, you’ll work across hybrid cloud environments, multiple technologies and collaborate with diverse community of platform stakeholders to deliver consistently high performance in our batch scheduling operations.
To achieve this, your role may include, though not limited to:
- Overseeing the operational effectiveness of the bank’s Enterprise Scheduling and XCOM Services.
- Designing, implementing, and maintaining robust batch scheduling solutions.
- Managing enterprise-grade scheduling tools (e.g., Control-M, Autosys, Tidal).
- Integrating and managing deployment pipelines with Octopus Deploy.
- Monitoring and troubleshooting batch jobs, ensuring swift resolution of incidents.
- Developing automation scripts to enhance scheduling efficiency.
- Ensuring compliance with security and operational best practices.
- Assessing and seeking to optimise batch processing performance, identifying and implementing improvements.
- Manage SSL Certificates, including upgrades, troubleshooting and renewals.
- Documenting processes, workflows, and configurations to support operational continuity and knowledge sharing.
Your Skills and Technical Expertise
This role is ideal for an experienced Autosys Workload Automation & XCOM Data Transport Engineer with a strong operational background in large-scale banking or financial services environments.
Additionally, success in this role may require:
- Expertise in managed file transfer technologies, troubleshooting methodologies and regulatory compliance.
- Advanced knowledge of Linux (Red Hat preferred), Windows, AIX, VMware, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Web server administration (e.g., Apache HTTPD, Tomcat, JBoss).
- Proficiency in Python, Oracle RDBMS, SQL, PostgreSQL, and cloud technologies (S3, EC2).
- Experience with GitHub, Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, and vulnerability management.
- Expertise in OAuth, MFA, PingID, MS Authenticator, and SAML protocols.
- Exposure to monitoring and observability tooling, particularly Splunk, Prometheus and Grafana. UI and Observe Inc would be added advantage.
- Familiarity with ITIL best-practice frameworks on Incident, Knowledge, Problem and Change Management.
