Summary:

  • As a member of the Project Controls group, you will be given opportunities to apply your education and experience on complex projects. 
  • You will be challenged to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and maintain very high quality. 
  • Reporting directly to the project controls manager, the Senior Planner/Scheduler will support project managers in area of planning, scheduling, variance analysis, forecasting and reporting. You will also be involved in earned value management, change management and risk management. 
  • Mentor, coach and train junior and intermediate planners/schedulers within the project team as required.

Job Responsibilities:
Senior Planner/Scheduler-Project Controls 

  • Responsible for the overall planning and scheduling activities on multiple projects, identifying critical paths including critical float path analysis and schedule variance analysis.
  • Capable of developing project plans and schedules based solely on project scope and with minimum direction and input.
  • Creating and maintaining routine schedules on a regular basis.
  • Monitor schedule deviation for assigned disciplines or specialties and advise the PM/PE team for their consideration.
  • Schedule resource loading and project SPI monitoring.
  • Assessing progress measurement and developing/updating progress curves for progress reporting.
  • Performing schedule variance analysis and risk analysis, providing recommendations as required.
  • Conducting recovery plans, contingency planning, and schedule compression techniques.
  • Liaising with Project Management on matters relating to planning and scheduling.
  • Integrating schedules for schedule portfolio management internally or with the client(s).
  • Managing information integration from engineers, subcontractors, owners, and others to create an integrated master schedule. 
  • Mentoring and supporting PC Intermediate and Junior staff on planning and scheduling tasks.
  • Participate in the creation of the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and development of schedules (including resource loading) for those WBS elements.
  • Participates in the project change management process as required.
  • Monitor procedures and practices, thinking creatively and strategically to create improvements. 
  • May perform other related duties as required.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • EPCM 
  • Oil & Gas 
  • Planning and Scheduling Professional (PSP) 
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Expert skills in Primavera (P6) and Microsoft Project. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project.
  • Schedule risk analysis tools and experience (i.e., Monte Carlo analysis) is a nice to have.
  • Construction experience is not a requirement but would be considered an asset.
  • Planning and Scheduling Professional (PSP) or Project Management Professional (PMP) designation would be an asset.

Education and Qualifications required for this role:
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in Planning & Scheduling.
  • Minimum 10 years’ Experience working in an EPCM Oil & Gas environment.
  • The ideal candidate will possess post-secondary accounting education, preferably related to Engineering or the Oil and Gas Industry.
