Senior Phase Educator
Lion Pride Academy is looking to appoint a Senior Phase Educator to commence duties on 1 January 2027.

The Senior Phase Educator at Lion Pride Academy plays a critical role in preparing learners for the increasing academic, social, and personal demands of the secondary school environment. The educator delivers high-quality, CAPS-aligned instruction while developing critical thinking, independence, resilience, responsible decision-making, and a strong sense of personal accountability.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong subject knowledge, effective classroom management, and the ability to challenge and motivate adolescents. As part of the Lion Pride vision, the educator encourages learners to develop confidence, entrepreneurial thinking, leadership skills, and an understanding of how their education connects to their future opportunities.
We are looking for an inspiring Senior Phase Teacher to join our academic team. This position is ideal for a passionate educator who understands the developmental needs of adolescents and is committed to maintaining high academic standards while creating a supportive, structured, and engaging learning environment.
Senior Phase Teacher responsibilities are:
Curriculum Delivery
- Plan and deliver engaging, CAPS-aligned lessons for Grades 7–9.
- Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and ensure effective curriculum coverage.
- Develop learners' critical thinking, problem-solving, research, communication, and independent learning skills.
- Integrate technology and innovative teaching strategies to enhance learning.
- Connect classroom learning to real-world applications, entrepreneurship, careers, and future opportunities.
Learner Assessment and Support
- Plan and administer formal and informal assessments in accordance with CAPS and school requirements.
- Analyse learner performance and use assessment data to inform teaching.
- Provide constructive feedback and targeted academic support.
- Identify barriers to learning and collaborate with relevant academic support staff.
- Prepare learners effectively for senior phase assessments and progression into FET.
Classroom Management
- Establish and maintain a professional, respectful, and academically focused classroom environment.
- Set clear expectations for behaviour, discipline, participation, and academic effort.
- Encourage learner accountability, resilience, independence, and a growth mindset.
- Build positive relationships with adolescents while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
Parental and Community Engagement
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding academic progress, behaviour, and learner development.
- Participate in parent meetings, school events, projects, and extracurricular activities.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and management to support learner success.
- Contribute to a positive school culture and community.
Professional Development
- Participate in school-based professional development and collaborative planning.
- Engage in reflective practice and continuous improvement.
- Keep abreast of curriculum changes, subject developments, and innovative teaching methodologies.
- Contribute positively to academic planning and school improvement initiatives.
Senior Phase Teacher requirements are:
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) specialising in Senior Phase OR a relevant degree with a PGCE specialising in the appropriate teaching phase/subjects.
- Current SACE registration and police clearance certificate.
- Strong knowledge of the CAPS curriculum and Senior Phase assessment requirements.
- Excellent subject knowledge and communication skills.
- Strong classroom management, planning, assessment, and differentiation skills.
- Technologically literate with the ability to integrate digital tools into teaching and learning.
- Able to inspire, challenge, and motivate adolescent learners.
- Energetic, reliable, organised, and committed to academic excellence.
- A commitment to character formation, entrepreneurial thinking, and the Lion Pride Academy vision.
Skills Required
- Bachelor of Education specialising in Senior Phase
- Alternatively, a relevant degree with a PGCE specialising in the appropriate teaching phase or subjects
- Current SACE registration
