We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for a large, multi-state workforce.
ResponsibilitiesAbout the Role:
As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and executing payroll operations for 1,000+ employees across multiple states. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Processing weekly, biweekly, or semimonthly payrolls in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Importing hours from time and production records to administer paychecks.
- Calculating gross pay, deductions, withholdings, and net pay using established procedures.
- Distributing payroll reports and checks to field offices.
- Auditing data exchanged between HRIS and payroll systems.
- Supporting periodic and annual payroll audits (e.g., BLS, MWR, Workers Compensation).
- Ensuring timely processing of new hire and termination paperwork.
- Validating direct deposit setups, withholdings, and deductions.
- Coordinating with HR to resolve complex payroll issues.
- Assisting with special payrolls and reporting needs.
- Preparing general ledger entries and communicating payroll data to relevant units.
- Supporting payroll tax audits and managing areas such as unions, garnishments, taxes, and banking relationships.
Sift Timings: 6:00 PM - 3:00 AM OR 7:00 PM - 4:00 AM
Work Mode: Hybrid (Thrice a Week)
About You:
- A high school diploma (bachelor’s degree preferred).
- 4–7 years of professional payroll experience, including extensive W2 reconciliation.
- Proven experience handling payroll for 1,000+ employees.
- Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll and union payroll processing.
- Proficiency in payroll systems; experience with cloud-based platforms like Oracle or Workday is a plus.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- A solid understanding of payroll regulations and audit processes.
- Attention to detail, integrity, and the ability to work independently under supervision.
