RII is looking for a committed Senior Payroll Analyst to join our Finance team to solve unique, challenging problems for our Defense and Homeland Security customers. The Senior Payroll Analyst will report to the Accounting Manager and will be responsible for all payroll activities including semi-monthly and out-of-cycle payroll processing.
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Collects employee time information from electronic timesheets, review and reconcile for accuracy and completeness, and follow up on missing or unapproved timesheets
- Processes semi-monthly payroll and submit funds transfers to employee accounts
- Processes payroll journal entries to support monthly general ledger closing cycles
- Processes monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll tax withholding and payments (including filing returns on Forms 941, W-2, etc.)
- Comply with payroll processing for garnishments, statutory and benefits deductions, and leave payouts
- Ensure compliance with Federal and State, and local payroll regulations including benefit deductions and leave policies
- Processes international payroll including collection of international timesheets and recording them accordingly
- Assists employees with timesheet and payroll questions and issues
- Ensure employee set-ups in Unanet are complete and accurate
- Assist in monthly reconciliation of payroll GL Accounts
- Participates in special payroll or accounting projects as assigned
- Support various financial and tax audits or reviews by preparing deliverables and responding to inquiries and resolving issues
- Support management by interpreting and applying payroll laws, policies, and procedures to resolve payroll issues.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with employees at all levels, HR, finance departments, and external agencies.
- Develop, maintain, and ensure ongoing compliance with accounting policies and internal controls; ensure that policies and controls keep pace with the growth that RII is experiencing
WHAT YOU HAVE DONE
- A minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience working on Payroll Systems (Paylocity, ADP, etc.)
- Five (5) years of experience processing full cycle payroll in a multi-state environment
- Payroll certification (Certified Payroll Professional – CPP) required
- Demonstrate strong knowledge and familiarity with the latest States and Local employee regulations and changes
- Ability to confidently interact with the senior management team, providing appropriate insight and guidance on payroll matters
- Experience with prevalent industry tools such as Unanet and similar ERP systems required
- Demonstration of critical, analytical, and creative thinking and problem solving
- Experience in the government contracting industry including labor, benefits, payroll taxes, and other cost recognition accounting practices
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with multiple initiatives and changing priorities
