IITM C-DOT Samgnya Technologies Foundation (Samgnya) is the National Hub for Quantum Communication established under the National Quantum Mission (NQM), Department of Science & Technology, Government of India.
Samgnya works towards the development, testing, validation, deployment and commercialization of advanced communication and quantum technologies in collaboration with academia, industry, startups, government agencies and strategic partners.
We are looking for a Senior Optoelectronics Engineer to support the development, testing, integration, troubleshooting and improvement of optoelectronic and optical communication projects.
The candidate should have a sound fundamental understanding of optoelectronics, along with practical exposure to testing, validation, troubleshooting and system upgrades.
The role requires a hands-on and adaptable professional who can quickly understand new technologies and systems, learn new concepts, take ownership of assigned projects and contribute effectively with minimal supervision.
Support the development, integration, and continuous improvement of optoelectronic and optical communication systems, including upgrading and modifying existing setups to enhance performance and reliability.
Conduct testing, fault identification, and performance analysis, utilizing results to resolve technical issues and identify areas for system enhancement during implementation.
Evaluate, select, and integrate electro-optical components to support laboratory experiments, system validation, technology demonstrations, and field deployments.
Adapt to new technologies and work closely with multidisciplinary R&D teams to take ownership of assigned projects and deliverables within defined timelines.
Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, test reports, observations, and regular project updates.
Support knowledge-sharing initiatives and mentor junior engineers as required.
Requirements
• Master’s degree in Optoelectronics, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Optical Communication, or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of relevant professional experience in optoelectronics, photonics, optical communication, electronics, electro-optical systems or related technology areas.
• Hands-on experience in testing, troubleshooting, validation and integration of optical/electronic systems.
• Experience in upgrading, improving, modifying or maintaining existing systems will be preferred.
• Experience in laboratory testing, prototype development, R&D or technology development will be an advantage.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams will be preferred.
Skills Required

IITM CDOT Samgnya Technologies Foundation, also known as Samgnya (Quantum T-Hub), is a nonprofit established as the designated Thematic Hub for Quantum Communication under India’s National Quantum Mission, led by the Department of Science and Technology. Based at IIT Madras Research Park, it advances quantum-communication research, innovation and technology development aimed at strengthening digital infrastructure security and supporting applications in sectors such as finance and critical infrastructure.
