Downstream Enzyme Optimization, Kalundborg
Downstream Enzyme Optimization (DEO) is responsible for developing and maintaining a strong optimization portfolio, maximize the performance of downstream processes, ultimately leading to improved process economics and product quality. Furthermore, DEO work on technology projects, new strain and product introductions and troubleshooting activities at our Danish sites, in respectively Kalundborg and Fuglebakken, Copenhagen. Process optimizations are based on detailed technical and production understanding, pilot experiments and lab investigations, production trials, and in-depth mathematical and statistical analysis and modelling of data.
Senior Department Manager, Downstream Enzyme Optimization
As Senior Department Manager you will be managing our Recovery pilot plant and Lab facility in Kalundborg, and you will be leading a department which consists of 10 Research Engineers and Technicians working on optimization of our downstream enzyme production processes with respect to cost reduction and capacity liberation. Our Optimization effort will be done in close collaboration with Fermentation Enzyme Optimization in DK; Production Colleagues; Optimization groups in respectively China and US and R&D departments.
Reporting to the director of Global Enzyme Optimization and as part of the Global Enzyme Optimization management team, you will be part of setting the overall strategic direction and goals for the function and converting these into operational direction and business goals for DEO Denmark.
In this role you will:

Work with and leading a highly skilled, motivated and engaged team

Be part of a broad Novonesis network and be working with stakeholder on all levels, in particular Operations as we strive to be the trusted partner for Operations

Obtaining Novonesis business insight - spanning all the way from R&D, Development and throughout Operations

Generate a scientific environment with focus on data generated leads and process innovation

Be responsible for budgeting and follow-up on capacity cost and capital investment projects in the department
Potentially relevant experience
We are looking for a leader who can inspire to a global and holistic mindset and actively supporting global projects in the function. To succeed as Senior Department Manager, we believe you should hold a M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, or related field, combined with experience within Downstream and/or Fermentation Enzyme processes – experience from production scale is an advantage.

Proven skills and experience within people performance management and leadership, with a drive to lead a highly skilled, motivated and engaged team and foster their personal development

Good organizational skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively in English

Experience with creating a scientific environment and culture with focus on improvements, innovation and idea generation
