About us:
Aeva’s mission is to bring the next wave of perception to a broad range of applications from automated driving to industrial robotics, consumer electronics, consumer health, security, and beyond. Aeva is transforming autonomy with its groundbreaking sensing and perception technology that integrates all key LiDAR components onto a silicon photonics chip in a compact module. Aeva 4D LiDAR sensors uniquely detect instant velocity in addition to 3D position, allowing autonomous devices like vehicles and robots to make more intelligent and safe decisions.
Role Overview:
We are looking for an optical module test engineer to join our team!
What you'll do:
- Lead the development of test and optical aligner stations used in the manufacturing line for lidar and industrial sensor products.
- Develop robust test cases and analysis routines for screening optical modules and associated assemblies. Develop and optimize alignment algorithms used to align lens and other optical components in our optical module.
- Work with external vendors to evaluate, specify, and procure advanced test solutions for the module and associated assemblies. These may include high speed active align systems, beam characterization and other optical metrology solutions.
- Develop tests and characterize Silicon Photonics based photonic integrated circuits (PIC) and devices at the wafer, chip, and module levels to support path finding programs.
- Work with the engineering teams to periodically review and add test coverage and improve test throughput.
What you have:
- 5+ years of experience with Silicon Photonics, lasers, or related photonics product development and characterization.
- MS or Ph.D. in Physics, Photonics, Optical engineering or related technical discipline.
- Experienced with optical instrumentation such as tunable lasers, spectrum analyzers, optical powermeter, wavemeters, switches, power supplies, motor control stages and active alignment systems.
- Strong experience using Python for test automation and data structures.
- Experience in communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, JTAG, GPIB and ethernet protocols for interfacing with instruments and embedded systems.
- Experience with JMP and database tools to perform statistical analysis for GR&R, correlation and DOE analysis for manufacturing process improvements.
What's in it for you:
- Be part of an early start-up that's backed by industry-leading venture capitalists
- Very competitive compensation and meaningful equity!
- Exceptional benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, and more!
- 401k matching
- Unlimited PTO: We care about results, not punching timecards
