This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit's Commercial Business Units ("Spirit Commercial"). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing's three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial's core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.
The Role:
This role requires competencies in leadership, adaptability, and the capability to build positive working relationships with multiple functions. To support our business organizations, you will need to have excellent oral and written communication skills and maintain a high level of customer focus. This position requires the ability to make good timely decisions, ability to initiate and follow through on actions, and the ability to manage complex projects.
Position Responsibilities:
- Plans, implements, and assesses occupational health and safety programs and processes to maintain a safe and healthy work environment
- Proactively identify hazards, perform risk assessments, and develop mitigation strategies for commissioning activities
- Develops and leads training and instructions
- Interprets and advises on the impact of emerging issues, regulations and legislation to company operations
- Evaluates and provides selection advice on existing or emergent risk management control technologies
- Leads audits, inspections and investigations and coordinates resolution of issues
- Develops corrective action plan to respond to internal/external audits and inspections
- Works with management to facilitate risk management decisions
- Analyzes emerging technology for the identification of potential hazards and control methods
- Provides safety and process safety expertise for engineering and design.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor's degree in occupational safety or related disciplines
- 7+ years' experience working in Environment, health, and Safety (EHS) preferably in a manufacturing or industrial segment
- Experience developing and implementing safety programs, policies, and training
- 7+ years of experience collaborating across functions and organizations.
- Ability to be self-directed and complete work with minimal day-to-day supervision
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a safety related field (Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Toxicology, Bio-Engineering, Public Health, etc.)
- 5+ years of experience managing projects
- Associate Safety Professional, Certified Safety Professional, or Certified Industrial Hygienist certification
- Leading a team formally or informally
- Experience working with union partnerships
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Understanding of ISO 45001

- Ability to walk/stand frequently per shift
- Ability to climb limited per shift
- Ability to sit frequently per shift
- Ability to lift/carry and push/pull up to 50 lbs.

Summary Pay Range - Senior (Level 4): $93,100 - $142,750
