Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Consultant/Architect with strong New Relic expertise to support its observability initiative. Several integration platforms currently send their interface repository and monitoring data to New Relic for centralized observability. You will lead the New Relic workstream, govern enhancements across the integration landscape, and guide stakeholders in adopting observability best practices.
You will also build, manage and scale enterprise telemetry, APM pipelines and infrastructure monitoring, working closely with development, DevOps and SRE teams to ensure high availability, proactive anomaly detection and rapid root-cause analysis in cloud-native environments.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Governance
- Lead the New Relic workstream and take an architectural leadership role across multiple stakeholders.
- Drive and govern platform enhancements across the integration landscape.
- Enable Distributed Tracing for end-to-end visibility of message flows, from source systems to target applications.
- Standardize monitoring data and payload formats across integration platforms and tenants, so a common standard applies irrespective of platform or tenant.
Dashboards, Alerting & Monitoring
- Assess and improve existing New Relic dashboards and identify gaps in the current monitoring setup.
- Design intuitive, real-time operational dashboards using New Relic Query Language (NRQL).
- Configure and optimize error notification mechanisms, including email alerts to multiple operating companies.
- Define customized alerts and SLO/SLA-based anomaly thresholds.
Platform Administration & Instrumentation
- Deploy, configure and manage the New Relic One platform across multi-cloud (AWS/Azure) and Kubernetes environments.
- Integrate New Relic APM agents, infrastructure agents and custom telemetry SDKs (Java, Python, Go, Node.js) into microservices.
Performance Optimization
- Analyze distributed traces, database bottlenecks and error rates to help developers improve code performance and reduce MTTR.
Automation & CI/CD
- Automate agent rollouts using Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible).
- Embed observability gates into CI/CD deployment pipelines.
Collaboration & Enablement
- Act as the internal SME for New Relic.
- Train engineering teams on best practices for debugging and error tracking.
Required Skills & Experience
Experience: 7-9 years in software engineering, DevOps or SRE, with a strong focus on monitoring/observability tools
New Relic: APM, infrastructure monitoring, logs management, browser/mobile monitoring, advanced NRQL
