Dhaka Technologies Limited Company (DTLC) is hiring a Senior Network Security Engineer II on behalf of the District of Columbia Govt. Client. The engineer supports the ongoing design, implementation, operation, and security of the OCFO network and the supporting security infrastructure. The role covers traffic monitoring and analysis, firewall and appliance configuration in compliance with OCFO security standards, perimeter security monitoring, forensic and packet analysis, network design services, and management of production and disaster recovery networks. This position is open only to candidates local to the DMV area.
Network Monitoring and Optimization
- Monitor and analyze data traffic patterns within the network infrastructure.
- Identify network problems and recommend improvements to ensure optimal performance.
- Improve network quality where degradation occurs, and ensure the reliability and stability of the network through these actions.
- Monitor trends in documented incidents and determine the actions necessary to eliminate future occurrences and improve customer service levels within an appropriate timeframe.
Security Engineering and Operations
- Configure routers, switches, firewalls, and other appliances in compliance with security standards.
- Monitor security measures in place within the network perimeter, ensuring that breaches do not occur and that information is safeguarded from unauthorized access.
- Maintain knowledge of the latest security threats, worms, and malware, and advise on how to deter them.
- Configure and operate network security-focused monitoring and logging systems.
- Perform forensic and packet analysis.
- Manage production and disaster recovery networks and security.
Network Design and Change Management
- Provide network design services.
- Coordinate with Infrastructure Services Group staff to establish the scope, timing, and technical approach to be used for proposed network changes.
- Ensure adherence to network policies and procedures.
Incident Resolution and Customer Service
- Proactively oversee the activities involved in the quality resolution of complex technical issues, responding with an appropriate sense of urgency to problems escalated to the network engineer level.
- Coordinate with appropriate personnel to determine solutions that increase end user satisfaction, follow through to completion, and communicate resolution results.
- Escalate to management any situation that could adversely affect the service provided to the end user.
Requirements
- 4+ years in the development, configuration, installation, and maintenance of networked systems including LANs, WANs, and telephony systems
- 4+ years with network standards, protocols, and procedures
- 4+ years in network architecture and topology, including transmission protocols, broadcasting, switching, control, and management
- 4+ years performing routing network configuration management functions
- 4+ years in network systems management methods, including end-to-end systems performance monitoring
- 4+ years holding a certification in network or system administration, such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CISSP, MCSE, or MCSA
- Experience building large scale, multi-site network architectures
- Experience with secure remote access and WAN technologies such as IPsec and VPN
- Knowledge of network-based and system-level attacks and mitigation methods
- Experience with firewalls, specifically Cisco Firepower next generation firewall (NGFW) or Cisco ASA firewalls
- Experience with security routing protocols
- Hands-on experience with Cisco security technologies, including Cisco Firepower, Cisco ASA firewalls, Cisco ISE 2.0 and above, and Cisco AMP
- Candidates must be local to the DMV area
- This is a hybrid position, and work reports must be submitted in person at the work site in Washington, DC 20020.
- This position is open only to candidates local to the DMV area.
- This contract is open to W2 or 1099 candidates only. Corp-to-Corp (C2C) candidates will not be considered.
- The final interview will be conducted in person.

- 4+ years holding a network or system administration certification such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CISSP, MCSE, or MCSA
- Experience building large-scale, multi-site network architectures
- Experience with secure remote access and WAN technologies such as IPsec and VPN
- Knowledge of network-based and system-level attacks and mitigation methods
- Experience with Cisco Firepower next-generation firewalls or Cisco ASA firewalls
