Senior Network Engineer

The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, configuration, management, and support of the organization’s network infrastructure and associated systems. This position requires an experienced IT professional with a strong background in Microsoft Windows environments, Cisco networking technologies, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and enterprise-level system support. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expert-level technical knowledge, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to provide leadership in both daily operations and project-based initiatives. 

Primary Responsibilities 

• Design, install, configure, operate, manage, and troubleshoot wide area networks (WANs) consisting of Cisco routers and switches. 

• Provide application development support in a multi-user, LAN-based, Microsoft Windows environment. 

• Install, configure, and support Microsoft Windows 7/10 Pro, Office 2013–2019, and Office 365 cloud services. 

• Deliver both remote and on-site support for hardware and packaged software over a WAN environment. 

• Manage Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments including backup and disaster recovery solutions. 

• Provide technical leadership and support for the Highview Imaging Application. 

• Offer help desk and application support services for an organization with 300+ users. 

• Install and configure microcomputers, servers, storage devices, printers, scanners, communications devices, cabling, LAN drops, and network equipment. 

• Deploy new state-procured equipment and software to the existing network. 

• Create, restore, and manage workstation images. 

• Troubleshoot and resolve workstation network connectivity issues. 

• Diagnose and repair hardware and software malfunctions. 

• Install and maintain software/hardware on workstations and servers as required. 

• Provide image transfer from the electronic document management system in compatible file formats acceptable to other state agencies. 

• Lead configuration, operation, and delivery of replicated deliverables. 

• Provide maintenance and enhancements to the organization’s website. 

• Design, install, configure, and manage replication processes for disaster recovery site implementations. 

• Conduct network performance measurements and analyses, providing recommendations for improvement. 

• Design, install, configure, and manage organizational email systems. 

Minimum Qualifications 

• Minimum of ten (10) years of experience providing application development support in a multi-user, LAN-based, Microsoft Windows environment. 

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and backup solutions. 

• Minimum of ten (10) years of experience installing, configuring, and supporting Microsoft Windows 7/10 Pro, Office 2013–2019, and Office 365 cloud services. 

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience providing remote and on-site hardware/software support over a WAN. 

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience designing, installing, configuring, operating, managing, and troubleshooting Cisco routers and switches in a WAN environment. 

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience installing, configuring, operating, managing, and troubleshooting Highview Imaging Application**. 

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience providing help desk/application support to a user base of at least 300 users. 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. 

• Relevant certifications such as Cisco CCNP/CCNA, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or equivalent. 

• Experience in network performance optimization and security hardening. 

• Strong documentation and communication skills. 

• Proven ability to lead complex IT infrastructure projects from planning to execution.
